Second life is an internet-based virtual world. A (free) client program called the viewer enables its users, the Residents, to interact with each other through avatarscreating a virtual community

American engineer Philip Rosedale in 1999 and launched in 2003 in the United States

• Nowadays the virtual community has more than 7 million world wide residents
