Seven opening sequence:

Books represent intelligence and foreshadows one of the main characters within the film

Extreme close up

The hands look inky and this foreshadows how the two key characters are detectives and so use ink to identify information

Crane shot

Deformed face, covered in ink emphasises the fact that they are looking for someone and searching photos

Close up

The font is creepy and small, this suggests that the film is going to be about something scary that is happening in the distance

Similar to the book, writing is usually represented with intelligence

Extreme close up

The photo covered in ink is now in red which could suggest blood, and therefore that the person they are looking for has murdered people

Close up

The person has a plaster on their finger to indicate that they use their fingers a lot. The Polaroid shows a girl in different positions and so indicates that the girl has something to do with what they are looking for

Close up

There is blood on the newspaper articles and pieces on evidence-but this shot is only on screen for a second, to show that it is a mystery what happened

Extreme close up

Person is blocking out certain words and shows that they do not want others seeing it. It is an article about one’s senses when they are pregnant, and this foreshadows the rest of the film

Extreme close up

The water he is placing the photo in is red, this again symbolises blood

Extreme close up

Picture of a man’s head with a needle/sharp object in his head, this furthers the information about the investigation

Close-up

Having the thread go through the needle represents precision and accuracy, foreshadowing one of the key characters

Extreme close up

The word being cut out of the newspaper spells GOD. This is an important subtlety within the opening sequence
