• Future SDM Planning and Status– Discussed the new SciTech Forum structure and makeup of the
Executive Steering Committee and Forum Organizing Comm.
– SDM and ASM General Chairs are now the Technical Program Chairs and lead the Technical Program Committee
– Gaylord National Harbor limited to 45 parallel sessions, thus expect a 15-20% reduction in available sessions for SDM
– SciTech participants can attend any track of sessions (SDM or ASM), only limited by their attendance at awards lunch
– Keynote lectures may replace technical paper sessions next year, still evaluating options
– The role of the LRPC will need to be evaluated again in the future based on the new Forum Organizing Committee framework
– Future sites are San Diego in 2015 and Orlando in 2016
LRPC Summary NotesLRPC Summary Notes
• AIAA Director’s Report– Forum Organizing Committee (FOC) has taken comments from
surveying the membership and direct communications; one example was a strong desire for maintaining the conference awards luncheons as separate events
– FOC is still working SDM keynote lectures and may be limited based on conference facility accommodations in 2014
– TAC is addressing challenges due to travel restrictions within the government, may still impact next year’s conference significantly
– LRPC recommendation to keep 2014 SDM conference separate was overturned by TAC to implement New Event Model
• SDM Award– Nominations due by 1 July 2013– Presented at 2014 SDM Conference
