• Mid-January 2016, ScienceDirect customers can access the same content on journal branded websites sites that they are entitled to on SD

• What is COUNTER? ?

• “COUNTER provides the Code of Practice that enables publishers and vendors to report usage of their electronic resources in a consistent way. This enables libraries to compare data received from different publishers and vendors”

• Count of number of journal article or book chapter downloads (SD, JS, JM) and count of searches, clicks and record views (SC)

• Elsevier’s available COUNTER reports:

• Scopus: PR1

• Science Direct: JR1, JR2, JR1GOA, JR5, BR2, BR3 and JR1b (soon)

• Journal’s Website: JR1, JR1GOA, JR5

• Journal’s Mobile App: JR1, JR1GOA, JR5

• non-COUNTER reports give insights into the counts as well as into use of the site:

• How many visits per month

• Download format (HTML, PDF, Abstract, ePub, Mobipocket)

• How many & what kind of searches

• Which articles downloaded were Open Access?

• When an institute licenses content through a ScienceDirect contract, their users can access this content via different access routes:

• ScienceDirect.com

• Journal-branded websites

• Journal Mobile Apps

• APIs

• Previously: separate COUNTER reports for SD, JM and JS

• Discussions with COUNTER

• More appropriate to consider these multiple access routes as one platform

• New platform name: ScienceDirect Licensed Content

• Reflects:

• Single customer agreement

• Accessing content via different access routes

The Admin tool

|

The Admin tool helps librarians and other administrators manage and customize ScienceDirect for their institution. Typically, an administrator is assigned at the time ScienceDirect is first activated

• Starting September 2016, the former Usage Reports site is no more in used. You are now

only able to download your monthly usage of ScienceDirect and Scopus using the Elsevier

Admin tool

• The Admin tool is only for Administrators

• Should you have administrator rights but you do not have access to the admin tool, kindly

contact your Account Manager and your Customer Consultant who will contact our helpdesk

to set you up as an administrator

• Your username and password for the admin tool are the same credentials than those you

are using to sign in in ScienceDirect and Scopus

• If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it via ScienceDirect and Scopus

• If you do not have a sign in on ScienceDirect or in Scopus, you can create it via the

homepage of both solutions

You can Reset your password to run your ScienceDirect and Scopus usage in the admin tool by clicking on “forgotten username or password” on the homepage of ScienceDirect or Scopus

If you do not have a profile yet in ScienceDirect or Scopus, you can create a profile by clicking on register. You username will be the email address you have use to register. It is the same credential for ScienceDirect, Scopus and the Admin Tool
