SCIENCE The word Science comes from the Latin word SCIENTIA means Knowledge. However Science is more than just knowledge or facts. It is a wayof finding solutions to problems. Finding solutions to problem led to technology.Technology is the application of Science.Technology has produced on the materials we are enjoying now such as can goods, shoes ,radio, television sets, kitchen ware and instant food products. Technology has brought about gadgets, product and processes.

• Technology has also brought various kinds of Processes. Here are few examples:

a. Food Preservation like freezing, canning and drying b. Aqua Culture where fish and prawn are placed in

artificial ponds in which conditions are controlled to improve the harvest.

c. Tissue Culture where animals and plants are propagated in a controlled environment.

Materials Improved Through TechnologyBefore, baskets were used as containers for carrying things Brought from the market. Plastic bags are now conveniently used in

place of baskets. Plastic containers have also slowly replaced ceramic food keepers.

Pans/Casserole are now coated with Teflon, a nonstick substance. This makes frying more convenient.

Cloth made of fine cotton is not very durable and quite expensive. Thus, cotton is mixed with other materials to produce a durable

and cheaper fabric.
