Science Fair

Presented by Tim Tarng, Gordon Yoo, Brandon Syau

Question

• What is the growth rate of mold among grains (carbohydrate), fruits, and dairy products (protein and fat) food products?

Hypothesis

• One of the ways for food to lose its freshness is through the growth of mold on the food. It is important to know the average length of time foods remain fresh so that we can manage our household budget more efficiently. It would be helpful to determine the growth rates of molds on certain foods in different environments, or we can even find a new way to store foods.

Variables

Independent Variable (changed):

• The environment: in the refrigerator, freezer, humid area, and under normal condition

• The types of food: foods that contain protein, fat, carbohydrate or other stuff…

Dependent Variable (measured):

• The length of time which the foods start to grow inedible

Controlled Variable (stays the same):

• The containers (plastic bags)

• The place we take pictures
