How does the color of the aerosol affect the light energy hitting it?

• Scattering: light energy hits and bounces off a substance in different directions, causes cooling

• Absorption: light energy taken in by substance, causes warming

• Albedo: the ability of a substance to reflect back light energy (snow – high albedo; blacktop – low albedo)
