SAVED TO SERVE:SHAPED FOR

SERVICE

Service is something to which we can aspire,

and that if we do not do service, our worship is

just idolatry.

We’re all meant to give something back. We’re

all meant to make a contribution in this life.

The Bible says we’re created to serve, we’re saved to serve, we’re gifted to serve, we’re

shaped to serve. We’re commanded to serve

God in response.

God made you unique and your uniqueness is

not for your benefit, and that purpose is to serve

Him.

1 Peter 4:10-1110 Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve

others, as faithfulstewards of God’s grace in its various forms.

1 Peter 4:10-1111 If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of

God. If anyone serves, they should do so with

the strength God provides,

1 Peter 4:10-11so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be

the glory and the power for ever and ever. Amen.

I.  God Is Seeking

Full Service

There are hurting people all around us, and the

wounded and hungry will not wait. We’ve got to

help them now.

1 Peter 4:10-1110 “As each one has

received a special gift, employ it in serving one

another as good stewards of the manifold grace of

God.” (NAS)

A. Service Is Shaped By

A Grace Perspective

2 Corinthians 12:9 9 But he said to me, “My

grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”

2 Corinthians 12:9 Therefore I will boast all

the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may

rest on me.

B. Service Is A Stewardship

Of Grace.

1Peter 4:10 10 “As each one has

received a special gift, employ it in serving one

another as good stewards of the manifold grace of

God.” (NAS)

2 Corinthians 9:8 8 And God is able to make all grace abound to you,

so that having all-sufficiency in all things at

all times, you may abound in every good

work. (ESV).

II. God Has Uniquely Gifted

His People To Serve One

Another.

God has designed us to look out and reach out and to give. God has

shaped us for service.

In the Bible the word “service” and “ministry”

are the same word. “servant” and

“minister” are the same word. So all of us are

called to ministry.

You don’t need a title to be involved in ministry. You simply need to be

actively doing something.

If you are called to salvation, you are called

to serve.

1Peter 4:10  10 “As each one has

received a special gift, employ it in serving one

another” (NAS)

HOW DO I DISCOVER MY GIFTEDNESS?

You Must Ask Yourself:

1. What Has God Given Me

A Passion For?

Jeremiah 20:9   “But if I say, “I will not

mention his word or speak anymore in his

name,” his word is in my heart like a fire,

Jeremiah 20:9   a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I

cannot.” (NIV)

How Do I Discover My Giftedness?

You Must Ask Yourself:

2. What Is The Shape Of

My Personality?

How Do I Discover My Giftedness?

You Must Ask Yourself:

3. How Have I Been Shaped By

My Past Experiences?

Luke 7:36-3936 When one of the

Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he

went to the Pharisee’s house and reclined at the

table.

Luke 7:36-39 37 A woman in that town

who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisee’s

house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of

perfume.

Luke 7:36-39 38 As she stood behind

him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she

wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured

perfume on them.

Luke 7:36-39 39 When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, “If this

man were a prophet,

Luke 7:36-39he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is—that she is a sinner.”

Conclusion:Now listen to this, Your

SHAPE (spiritual gifts, heart, abilities, personality,

experiences) your SHAPE determines your ministry,

but your attitude determines your maturity.
