Burning ManFestival in the desert

The long drive from Vegas
In line to reach Black Rock Desert
Burning Man...
Not for money: commerce is strictly forbidden in Black Rock City. Instead the city runs on a gift economy. Its many bars, mutant vehicles and camps, for instance, are hosted by groups who buy carloads of booze or food, drive it into the desert, construct some kind of structure (frequently extremely elaborate), and spend many hours serving endless crowds of random strangers, while expecting nothing in return.
Burning Man is a temporary community. Relationships are created, neighbours meet one another, and our collective survival is challenged.
This is not a spectator event. Burning Man is an experience of radical self-
expression, radical survival and radical inclusion – everyone is an equal participant.
Burning Man is also a Leave No Trace Event, and four weeks after it is over, there is no trace left in the desert that it ever happened.
Black Rock Desert becomes Black Rock City - area of 3 km x 6 km, population of over 5O,OOO
