JOYFUL, JOYFUL We are celebrating the 3rd Sunday of Easter. Most people think that Easter is just one day; but
Easter is a whole season. Our Easter season lasts for 50 days. The joy and hope that we feel on
Easter morning should last all the way to Pentecost. We spent 40 days in reflection and repentance-
we should definitely spend more than that enjoying the joy of the Resurrection.
DO YOU LIVE YOUR LIFE RIGHT? In the first reading today we hear that the Apostles were brought in before the Sanhedrin because they were continuing to spread the
Good News about Jesus. Even in the face of persecution they would not cave in to follow their instructions; following the Lord was more
important to them. How much better off would we be if we followed what the Lord said rather than following those in charge? Our moral
code has been broken down because law makers and government leaders continue to blur the lines about what is acceptable, not to men-
tion that we live in a society that reminds us “you only live once;” as if that was the go ahead to justify our bad behavior. Instead of living
our lives according to the will of God, we sometimes think that having free will means we can do whatever we like. Can we model our
lives on the dedication of the Apostles and live as Jesus asked?
COME TO THE SEASHORE In the Gospel today we hear about another visit Jesus had with his Apostles after his Resurrection. When he first appears to them, as
usual they do not recognize him. He talks to them about their lack of success in catching any fish, and then he instructs them to put their
nets out to the side, at that point they catch more fish than the nets can hold. When they return to shore Jesus has started a fire and begins
to cook fish for them to eat. Unfortunately this part of the Gospel is usually glossed over; but the reality is that it in an important incident
that should be focused on; Jesus did not come back from the dead as a ghost or spirit, but as a living Man. Not only did he appear and
speak, but he ate and drank with his followers. He was as present to them after the Resurrection as he was before the crucifixion. He was
alive; and he is alive to us today.
CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations and God bless our students who received the Sacrament of Confirmation on Monday. We were blessed to have Bishop
Caggiano present for our celebration. We pray that Karla DelRosario, Gianna DelRosso, Giovanni Gerpe, Jaime Huirococha, Nicholas
Mari, Jahir Perez and Jayson Pramraj continue to grow in the Spirit.
PRAYER TO ST. MICHAEL
St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle;
be our defense against the wickedness and snares of the devil.
May God rebuke him, we humbly pray;
and do you, O prince of the heavenly host,
by the power of God,
thrust into hell Satan and the other evil spirits
who prowl about the world for the ruin of souls.
Amen
