The Sacrament of Marriage is celebrated after a period of preparation of no less than six months. Registered parishioners who wish to marry at St. Joseph’s are invited to contact one of the priests during regular weekday office hours before making any other arrangements. The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated, on the first and third Sundays of the month at 1:30pm. Please call the Parish Office to schedule an appointment with one of the priests. The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick is available at any time to any Catholic over the age of reason who is seriously ill, preparing for surgery or suffering the effects of age. The priests of the parish regularly celebrate the Eucharist and administer the sacrament of the sick at the area nursing homes; lay ministers lead services and bring communion to the residents every Sunday.

THE SECOND COLLECTION Next weekend is our special monthly offering for all the Parish Ministries of St. Joseph’s Church. It as-sists the many and varied organizations serving the people of our great parish and the local community. Please give this request your prayerful consideration.
Religious Education Office
OFFICE WILL BE CLOSED FROM July 18th—August 15th.
Consider Sharing Your
Faith With the Children of the Parish
Pope Francis reminds us that children are the great-est blessing that God has given us. We have a won-derful group of dedicated Catechists who take their time each week to teach our beautiful Catholic Faith to the children of the Parish. In my short time here, I can see, feel and hear their love of our faith while interacting with the children.
At this time I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider joining this dedicated group of people in sharing your love of the faith with the children of this Parish. We currently have a few openings for Catechists in our program. You don’t have to teach alone, you can team up with a friend or neighbor and co-teach a class. Please feel free to contact me any-time to discuss this wonderful ministry!
Many Blessings for a safe and happy summer!
Your Sister In Christ, Pam Crozier Pcrozier8@gmail.com or 914-276-1067
Music Ministries

Concerts at Saint Joseph’s Anyone interested in sponsoring a concert or placing a program/journal ad to support these non-liturgical events may contact the Parish Office or email the Director of Sacred Music at treasurehousemu-sic@gmail.com.
Please email the music office if you would like to join the St. Joseph’s Parish Music Ministries’ mail-ing list, and for any liturgical choir or concert infor-mation. Visit the music ministries’ informative sec-tion at stjosephsomers.org for brochures and concert fliers.

During the months of July and August we began reciting the Gloria during our Sunday Mass-es. We will resume singing the Gloria in September. It is good Liturgical practice to use dif-ferent options from time to time. Reciting the Gloria is just one of them.
Monday, August 15 is the Feast of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is NOT a Holy Day of Obligation. When this Holy Day falls on a Saturday or Monday, Catholics are NOT obliged to attend Mass. However, if you would like to attend Mass for this special Feast, the Masses on Monday, August 15th are: 7:30am, 9:00am, 12 Noon and & 7:00PM. **All the Masses this day will be in the Church** I want to thank all of our Parishioners who contribute each week to our collections. Thank you so much for keeping up with your weekly offerings, even during these summer months when you may be away for a time. Thank you for your constant support and generosity. May God bless you!
FOOD PANTRY
Next weekend is our monthly food drive for the pantry at the Community Center of Northern Westchester. The items most in need at this time are: pasta and pasta sauce, baby food, strawberry jam/jelly, canned fruit, dry milk, hearty soups. Our July donations totaled 1,260 pounds of much needed food. Thank you for your continued support of our neighbors in need. Remember, no donation is too small!
Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament is not something that is new. It is a Catholic practice which is centuries-old. The practice affirms the central teaching of the Catholic Church with regard to the Holy Eu-charist- Jesus Christ is truly-substantially present in the Holy Eucharist. In about the 4th century monasteries began to reserve the Eucharist and by the 11th century the reservation of the Blessed Sacrament- mainly for the sick and dying was reserved in our Catholic Church’s. At this time Eucharistic Devotion became popular. Out of this came Adoration and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sac-rament. Adoration until this day keeps us connected to the community’s celebration of the Most Holy Eucharist. We have had the practice of Adoration and Benediction for many years here at St. Joseph’s. While this prac-tice has proven to be an important part of our devotion, we would like to see more people participate in this most beautiful devotion. Attached is a signup sheet for people to make a commitment to a particular time each First Thursday, Septem-ber through June. As you know, Holy Thursday is the day that Jesus gave us the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper. So it is very appropriate for us to adore our Eucharistic Lord on this day. The times will be con-sistent. If a funeral is scheduled during these times, we will still keep the Blessed Sacrament Exposed in the Chapel. You can sign up for a specific time and make that commitment each month. We would like to have at least 4 people signed up for each of the times so that if someone cannot fulfill their commitment because of illness or something else we still have enough people for each hour. Of course, if you do not sign up for a particular time you are most welcome to come for a visit at any time. Please fill out the form provided and return it to the parish office or just drop it in the collection basket. We are looking to put together a list by September 1st.
First Thursday- September through June- 9:30am - 4:00pm (concludes with Benediction) PLEASE FILL OUT THE FORM BELOW AND DROP IN THE COLLEC-
TION BASKET IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO PARTICIPATE -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Parishioners of St. Joseph’s Church, We would like to thank you for your generous outpouring of support for the Capuchin Appala-chian Mission. We returned from Kentucky on July 17 after spending a full week in Harlan County Kentucky. Five manual labor groups built a handicapped ramp at a home; repaired bathrooms in two different homes, one which had a rotting floor and no water to the sink or showerhead and the other which needed a new tub/shower unit; completed an addi-tion to a home started last year; replaced a roof and patched several others; and through all this work, shared the love of Christ. The Senior ministry sang songs, played games, lent a listening ear and celebrated Christmas in July with the residents of the nursing home. The Vacation Bible School served over forty chil-dren throughout the week, sharing daily Bible vers-es, teaching the children songs, playing games, do-ing religious crafts and providing snack and lunch. The Outreach Ministry visited a different site each day distributing over fifty boxes of clothing, books and cleaning supplies to the people most in need. Each day the 82 teens and adults participated in daily mass, morning prayer, theological reflection and small group sharing. Many profound moments of renewed and reinvigorated faith were observed and shared by the participants. In addition to all of these accomplishments, our group was a strong, positive Catholic presence in an area of the country where Catholics make up less than 1% of the popu-lation. Your generous support of this service trip is so valuable and appreciated. We remembered you in our prayers each day in daily mass and prayed for your intentions.
