PASTORAL MESSAGEPASTORAL MESSAGEPASTORAL MESSAGEPASTORAL MESSAGE
My Beloved Brothers and Sisters in the Lord,
It is indeed a good thing for us to come together once again, now that all the va-
cations are done and the kids are back to school. We enter into our routines
and wait patiently for summer to come once again. Routines are indeed com-
forting because they bring structure to our chaotic life.
The danger with routines is that we become mindless in our habits and are not
able to even look around to see the world we live in, or the Church we worship
in. We forget that we have a responsibility that cannot be routine for us as Or-
thodox Christians. Our responsibility is given to us directly from the Gospel of
Matthew “..go out and make disciples of all nations…”
How can we do this, especially when we ourselves do not really know what we
believe? Many times we think we know, yet do we really know what the Church
teaches or do we deceive ourselves into thinking that simply because we have
always believed this then it has to be what the Church teaches? Brethren the
time to do things simply because our parents told us to is done. The why for us
is just as important as the what to do. This is what we should learn, and learn it
well, because this is the only way that we can teach others what it is to be an
Orthodox Christian.
Let us then use this month that the Lord gives us to do everything we can to
first learn then teach the faith; to first open our hearts and then open our doors
to let all in to worship the Name of the Lord, in whom there is no male or fe-
male, Jew or Greek.
In His Service,
Father Michael Constantinides, Economos

Wine tast ing
Event: As you have
read in other sec-
tions of this newslet-
ter, the wine tasting
event is rapidly ap-
proaching on Satur-
day, October 21. At
a cost of $25 - $30
per person, consider
purchasing tickets for
your friends you
would like to invite,
but don’t want to
have to do the enter-
taining at home with
all the food shopping,
preparat ion and
cleaning beforehand!
Thank you so much
to all of the parish-
ioners who gave so
selflessly for the fes-
tival to have another
successful year! The
council would like to
thank the following
people for help get-
ting the church spiffy
before the festival:
Kay Coin for seeing
a need to have the
church building, ga-
rage and patio ele-
ments cleaned and
then hiring and pay-
ing for parishioner
Nick Gnatovich’s
firm to power wash
them. Thanks so
much, Kay!
Joe Burmeister,
Elaine Burmeister,
and Gary Zalaznik
for their hard work
sprucing up the
grounds (mulching,
filling sinkholes, etc.)
before the festival.
Thanks to all three
of you!
At the November
12 General As-
sembly , Festival
Chair Gus Pappas
will give a full list of
festival acknowledg-
ments and thanks. A
full festival report
will also be given at
the assembly, so plan
now to attend the
assembly.
In addition to the
Nov. 12 Assembly,
Stewardship Sun-
day will be Novem-
ber 19, and Parish
Council Elections
will be held on Sun-
day, December 3.
If you are interested
in participating on
the council, please
contact Father Mi-
chael. While all are
welcome to run for
the council, the par-
ish would particularly
be fortunate to have
additional “younger”
parishioners to par-
ticipate in this vital
ministry!

Just as the poor
should give thanks to
God and return rich
love to those who
assist them, so all the
more should the
wealthy give thanks,
for through God's
providence they are
able to perform acts
of charity and so are
saved both in this age
and in the age to be.
For without the poor
they cannot save their
souls or flee the temp-
tations of wealth.

Community News CHOIR NEWS
Sunday October 1, 2017,
we recognize those
women and men who
h a v e h e a r d a n d
responded to the Lord’s
invitation to be church
musicians: that is, parish
chanters and choir singers.
As church musicians, these
people represent the laity
in the liturgical dialogue of
our worship services. In
glory to God, the Holy
Trinity, they commit
themselves to learning the
hymns of our Orthodox
faith, understanding the
sequence of our liturgical
worship, and actively of-
fering their prayers in
song to enhance the
beauty of our worship.
We ask each of them, and
our congregation as well,
to be mindful of the spe-
cial ministry they fulfill in
singing the hymns of our
faith and leading us to
worship.

Come and join us as we
look into the inner mean-
ing of the Scriptural texts
and see how they apply
with the teachings of the
Fathers, the Tradition of
the Church and with our
lives today. Join us also as
we examine the traditions
of the Church and com-
pare them with what our
parents taught us. We
meet every Wednesday
morning at 10:00 a.m. and
Thursday evening at 6:00
p.m. So bring your Bibles,
your questions and your
friends as we continue our

WINE TASTING
Keep in mind that there
will not be a Wine Tasting
at the Festival. Only after
careful consideration by
the Festival Co-Chairman
and at the recommenda-

team the decision was
made to hold a Wine
Tasting event separate
from Our Big Fat Greek

Our Sunday School year
started on the 24th with
Ice Cream Sundae Sunday.
Students and teachers
were treated to ice cream
and fixings to celebrate
the year.
We have our regular team
as teachers for the time
being but can always use
another helping hand, to
substitute teacher or to
team teach. Please prayer-
fully consider joining us in
strengthening the next
generation.
I would like to encourage
any one with children,
grandchildren, God chil-
dren or any other young
person in mind, to invite
them to Sunday School. As
well, if you know some
one that doesn't attend
but might if we reached

Notification of the Fall Parish Assembly on Sunday November 12, 2017
Dear St. George Stewards,
On Sunday, November 12th, 2017, following the fellowship and
coffee hour, we will be convening our Fall General Assembly in
the Gold Room. Please make every effort to attend.
As a reminder, the General Assembly is a meeting of all mem-
bers in good-standing. A member in good-standing is defined
by the Uniform Parish Regulations of the Archdiocese as any
person eighteen years of age or older who was baptized ac-
cording to the rites of the Orthodox Church, or was received
into the Orthodox Church by Chrismation, who lives accord-
ing to the faith and canons of the Orthodox Church, who has
met his or her stewardship obligation for 2016 and abides by
the Uniform Parish Regulations of the Archdiocese and the by-
laws of the Parish. Members in good-standing, in attendance,
constitute a quorum of the General Assembly.
A new member may vote in the General Assembly provided
that they have been in good-standing at least three (3) months
prior to the date of the General Assembly. If you would like
to vote on any of the motions made during the General As-
sembly, you must be present. Absentee ballots will not be
counted.
