Learning without boundaries
Modern learning needs to free learners to explore beyond their
LMS, while still supporting the learning needs of the broader
organization. Saba Discovery significantly extends the Saba
Learning suite through the addition of a learning record store (LRS) and a browser-based bookmarklet. With these advanced
tools, all learning sources can be discovered, experienced,
tracked, rated and shared almost anywhere.
With Saba Discovery, learning and development managers can
develop and offer more creative learning experiences — such as
games and simulations — to create a more interactive, immersive
and engaging development experience. Employees are learning
constantly from a wide variety of sources both inside and outside
your enterprise. Now, not only can they receive credit for the
knowledge they gain, but you will have insight into the learning
that’s happening across your organization so that you can track
trends and act on the valuable insight.
Your organization’s top performers are constantly seeking out new learning opportunities, and organizations that want to support this learner-centric opportunity need a learning solution that supports more than just corporate education and compliance training. Your talent won’t wait to be told what to learn; they’re educating themselves constantly through events, podcasts, online courses, articles, their peers, and more. With Saba Discovery, you can find, track, and manage all of the learning and development that your people experience — whatever and wherever it is.

How do users track and share their learning?
• Users find a resource they want to track or share
• Users click the Saba Bookmarklet and choose to share, save for later, add to collection, or mark complete
• Saba Bookmarklet creates an entry in the learning record store that links to the item and tracks its usage and completion
• Items can be organized into collections, which users can share or curate

Share learning from the browser
Ever since Google became a verb, users have
turned to the web to find resources to help them
tackle problems and expand their knowledge. It’s
also a uniquely human trait to want to share what we
learn with others — and to keep track of information
for future reference.
Saba Discovery makes this process simple. When
an employee comes across a video, resource, or
any other information that they want to watch, track
or share, they simply click the Saba Bookmarklet in
their browser to save the activity to the LRS, where it
becomes part of the user’s recorded learning history
and part of the social activity stream.
From within the Saba platform, these learning
resources can be organized, shared, ranked, rated
and followed by an individual, a team or the entire
enterprise. Empowering users to share and curate
outside content can help you identify internal subject
matter experts and develop more knowledge
workers, while also allowing for the delivery of more
real-time and relevant trainings and information.

Prove the business impact
What is the goal of learning and development if not
to improve individual and team performance and
to move the needle on business objectives and
outcomes? Talent leaders know that it’s imperative
to demonstrate tangible business impact for their
learning and development initiatives. Did the sales
team drive more revenue as a result of their training
and enablement programs? Is the customer support

Saba Discovery can track, manage, analyze, and
report on the learning that users are finding,
anywhere and in any format: videos, articles,
online courses, blogs, and more. While there is
no restriction on which sites can be bookmarked,
experienced, and shared with Saba, learning
administrators can create a registry of sites. This
registry identifies which sites can create formal
transcripts upon completion and which verb should
be used to describe the user’s experience at that
site (for example watched or completed.)
Manage and track all learning
Saba Discovery doesn’t just track items on the web;
it can track items on the intranet or on shared cloud
storage applications such as Dropbox and Microsoft
OneDrive. Worried that not everyone reads the PDF

without having to go through the process of creating
a formal course.
When it comes to reporting and analysis, Saba
Discovery can also report the learning experiences
and development activity happening throughout the
organization on a more granular level. All activities,
whether employer-directed or self-directed, are
accessible through Saba Analytics. This simplifies
the management and reporting of all learning
activity, formal and informal, from Tin Can, AICC, and
SCORM content to courses, classes, articles, videos,
blogs and more.
Conclusion
If you’re looking to expand the ways in which you
offer learning or just want to open doors to other
learning sources, Saba Discovery accommodates
today’s learner-driven development while providing
the measurement, tracking, analytics, and reporting
that learning administrators need to leverage
learning without boundaries.
