1. What is AMGA and what are its aims?

AMGA is a company which deals with collecting and segregating waste, products directly from people’s houses in the region. It serves five municipalities.

AMGA uses modern methods of rubbish collection and segregation that aims at obtaining a very high segregation rate.

At present AMGA has one of the highest segregation rate in that region of Italy (62%) and was awarded for its work this year.

2. HOW IS THE COMPANY ORGANIZED?

First of all the company is a municipal

limited company liable to the town council.

This company has a system called “door to

door” which means that rubbish trucks

collect segregated waste.

  What kind of services does it provide? 

The company collects different rubbish containers directly from people’s houses which means that people have to segregate rubbish at home.

• The collection is carried out door-to-door.

Waste is put into different bags at home and disposed into special bins with different colours.

On specific days AMGA trucks collect specific bins.

5. How is the collected waste treated?

Segregated waste, that is plastic, glass, metal, paper is transported to plants which recycle such materials.

Some unsegregated waste is delivered to incineration plant which incinerates it producing electricity in this process.

  Does the treatment of waste allow the production of alternative energy? Some unsorted rubbish is incinerated in special plants and in this way 60 GW of electricity are produced every year.
