Introduction
Applications
RF8000isdesignedforleveldetectionandsimplepumpcontrolinavarietyofapplications: •Liquids,solids(powderandgranules),slurries,interfacedetection(forexample,oil/water),andfoamdetection •Foodsandpharmaceuticals •Chemicalandpetrochemical •Highpressureandtemperature
Function RF8000isaversatilecapacitanceswitch,idealforleveldetectionofinterfaces,solids,liquids,slurries,andfoam,andforsimplepumpcontrol.
Theswitchrespondstothepresenceofanymaterialwitharelativedielectricconstantof1.5ormorebydetectingachangeincapacitance,whichisregisteredasachangeinoscillatingfrequency.
Theswitchcanbesettodetectbeforecontactoroncontactwiththeprobe.TheRF8000requiresaconnectiontoearth/groundforeffectivecapacitancemeasurement.
Thepowersupplyisgalvanicallyisolated.
Thematerialsusedintheprobeconstructionprovideahighlevelofchemicalresistance,andanexcellenttemperatureratingontheprocesswettedportionoftheprobe:upto400°C(752°F).
RF8000isavailableintwomodels:thestandardmodel,andthedigitalmodelwithintegrallocaldisplay.

Basic PLC configuration with PROFIBUS PA
Programming
RF8000carriesoutitslevelmeasurementfunctionaccordingtothesetofbuilt-inparameters.Youcanmakeparameterchangeslocallyviathelocaluserinterface,orfromaremotelocationviaaPCusingSIMATICPDMsoftware.
RF8000Digitalcanbeusedeither:
•asastandaloneunit,programmedlocallyusingthelocaluserinterface,or •installedaspartofanetwork,programmedremotelyusingSIMATICPDMonProfibusPAnetwork(orlocally usingtheLocalUserInterface).
Alarm signalling
Thesolid-stateswitchcanbesettoreacteithertoadiagnosedfaultintheinstrument,ortoachangeintheprocesslevel. Fault Signalling
RF8000canactivelyreportinformationonitsownstatusviaPROFIBUSPAwhenusedaspartofanetwork,orbymeansofapre-definedoutputstatusatthesolidstateswitchandontheLocalUserInterface(LUI).
