Telephone system works on the modem technology. There are

different types of modems available. Any mobile available in the

market is made up of a inbuilt modem and the controlling software. In

market GSM and GPRS modems are also available. So keeping these

things in consideration we are building a project to control the GSM

modem which is connected to the system.

We are connecting the GSM modem to the system using any

supportable port like serial or USB port then develop software to

control the functionality of the system.

ABSTRACT

To establish communication between two or more PC’s using

a GSM modem. The PC’s are not connected via internet or Wi-Fi or

Bluetooth or infrared in any way.

Client-server structure, point – point communication between

the computers is also not used.

PROBLEM DEFINITION

Once user connects GSM modem to the system then user need

to pass predefined command to the modem so that modem can act

upon.

As we are developing the software any user can now connect

GSM modem to the system and can handle the functionality of his

laptop or the desktop directly by sending SMS from a remote

location. Even user can send the SMS from the system.

Now following are option which we are including in our project:

• System read SMS Matter

• System Control PC Operation

Development tools:

Front End: Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0

Back End: MS Access

Operating System:

Microsoft Windows 98 or greater version

• Laptop / Desktop

• Data Cable

• GSM Modem / GSM Mobile Phone

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

PURPOSE OF USING VISUAL BASIC 6.0

The programming language forms the background of all

that takes place in a running VB program. VISUAL BASIC

programming language is an extension of QBASIC.

Much of rating a VB program requires placing graphics

object on the screen and setting attributes of those objects that

determine how the objects are to look and behave.

VB is an event driven programming language.

1.GSM/GPRS delivers all the power of

instant wireless connectivity to your

multiple applications.

2. The modem is fully type approved so it can dramatically

speed up the time to market with a full range of Voice,

Data, Fax and SMS features (Optional TCP/IP)

HISTORY OF GSM

In 1982, a consortium of European countries created the

Group Special Mobile (GSM) to develop a cellular technology .

The European Telecommunications Standards Institute

(ETSI) took over the project in 1989 and finalized the first set of

technical specifications.

NETWORK STRUCTUREThe network

behind the GSM system

seen by the customer is

large and complicated in

order to provide all of the

services which are

required. It is divided into

a number of sections and

these are each covered in

separate articles.

ADVANTAGES OF GSM

* Ability to use repeaters which reduces the effect of noise from

signals.

* GSM covers virtually all parts of world so international roaming

is easy.

* GSM can be used from anywhere

* It is portable and easily available

Remote PC controlling system

ADVANTAGES

1. Easy to working with PC

2. It will reduce the need of keyboard and mouse

3. Save the Time

4. Avoid the unauthorized use of system

5. It increase the working speed

6. It handles chatting process

7. System lock remotely

8. System operates from anywhere

9. Provide home security by handling system remotely

10. Easy to used

LIMITATION

•If network doesn’t exist then problem occur

•If MODEM not connected to the system then system can

not perform any operation on the basis of command

•Mobile number must be register and valid

Remote System Handling

It will be used in server controlling room

It will be used in Lab

It will be used in Net Café

It will be used in College

This project can be used for chatting purpose from PC and

Mobile.

This project can be used for providing system lock remotely

Use of this project for remotely handling PC from mobile

phone

1.More controlling options can be provide.

2.Detail information can be send over mobile.

3.More security options can be provided.

4.Send and receive multimedia messages.

5.Can be used in other locking systems.

6.Other appliances can also be handled.

7.It can implement for handling home appliances.

CONCLUSION

After all the explanation we conclude that

• Our project works fine for small requirements

• It can be improved with more man power and time

Hence we can say that our project work is completed

with all the modules with very few ratios of problems

Our project is used for remote controlling a PC

through mobile phone and provide security from

unauthorized user. It shows the communication between PC

and registered mobile phone.
