Logistic platform of the Tuscany
Development of the railways The high speed/high capacity in Florence
and the regional connection
The high speed/high capacity in Florence
A new underground station, designed by Foster group, in the Belfiore-Macelli area
Train will pass through a 9-kilometres tunnel, entering in the area of Campo di Marte and exiting at Castello
Regional investment in rail network (from ERDF, Regional Development Fund)
Connection Pisa- interport of Guasticce and port of Leghorn
Doubling Pistoia-Montecatini railway
Completion of Tyrrhenian corridor
The whole Mediterranean coast, from Palermo to Gibraltar, is linked by a system of motorways that has no interruptions, if not from Rosignano (about 20 miles to the south of Leghorn) to Civitavecchia (about 40 miles to the north of Rome).
The so called “Tyrrhenian corridor” between Grosseto and Civitavecchia is a link between motorways of sea (ports of Leghorn, Piombino and Carrara), transversal corridor (highway and railway) and north-south corridor (Corridor 1) and it crosses an area of outstanding natural beauty
Towards the growth of the maritime sector
Main industrial ports of the Tuscany are Leghorn, Carrara and Piombino
Guidelines:
Developing “motorways of the sea”
Developing Logistic platform
Quality and development of tourist ports
Conditions:
Modernisation of services
Technical internal conditions
Infrastructures: network to railways, highways and multimodal corridor
International market
A balance between growth in air transport and the environment
International connection
Main airports in Tuscany are Pisa (where low-cost increased traffic passengers), and Florence (a city, business airport).
Other airports are in Siena, Grosseto and Island of Elba
The expansion of airport capacity is linked to the reducing noise and pollution caused by aircraft
