Christmas is that special time of the year for the staff and faculty to have an informal come together event, play games, receive presents and have some fun. Here is what the Business Administration Management program instructor Bruce O has to say about his experience at Reeves College: “I started teaching Accounting, part-time, at a community college in 1989. Then in 2001, I went over to Korea to teach English as a Second Language for a total of about 2 years. Over the past 12 years I have taught ESL, Accounting, Business and computer courses in a number of countries in Europe and Asia. I enjoy working with people and watching them mature and grow over the program period. Teaching accounting came easily to me as I have a CMA certification and many years of experience in the field. I became a certified ESL instructor to pursue my passion for travel. I am able to learn so much more living and working in different countries, meeting the people and interacting with the students than just a 2 week vacation. I inspire my students by involving the students in the learning process. I am always asking open-ended, leading questions to promote discussion, and to encourage students to provide examples from their lives that reflect and support the course material. I use humor often in class, as I see humor as an important part of keeping the students engages and interested in the course material. Teaching is therapeutic for me. When I am listening to questions and encouraging discussion, all my focus and energy is on the students, and I cannot daydream, or be stressed about other issues.
