Welcome to Recreational Access to Agricultural Public Land Contact and Access Condition
Information website. This site contains contact and access condition information for recreational
users who wish to access Public Lands that are under agricultural lease, license or permit,
including Provincial Grazing Reserves. The site is intended to help you identify lands under
agricultural disposition, who to contact for access, and what conditions of access apply.
This is a simple instructional manual of the site but the user is encouraged to explore the website
as there are many additional tools and information.
The site is available from 7:30 AM to 12:00 AM and is located at the following URL:

All data used is presented in 10TM NAD83 format using a 500,000 meter offset projection.

Initial Access
Terms of Use Agreement
To start, you will be required to read and agree to the terms of use. To agree, check the box and
click continue.

Initial Site Display On the start-up page, a small scale version of the province will be displayed. You can begin to
navigate to the areas of interest at this point. Instructions on how to use the map tool and
information regarding recreation access on agricultural dispositions is also available in the toolbar
to the left (circled in the image below).

Detailed Navigation Tool The user also has some detailed navigation tools to pan, zoom in or refocus the map display on a
particular agricultural lease if they so choose. These tools are located on the Getting Around
tab.
For Example, if searching the map with the Zoom In button, use the following steps:
Click on the map and drag the arrow icon to highlight a rectangular area on the map that
you are interested in. This will zoom in on the map to show the section, township and
range information.
Click on the map and drag the arrow icon again to highlight a rectangular area on the
map that you are interested in. This will then highlight the recreational access lands in
green.
When you see green on the map, click on the Identify Recreational Access button in the
tool bar just above the map.
Click on the area of interest (highlighted in green) within the map.
Contact and access condition information will be displayed to the left of the map.

Go To Location Tab The user can click on the Go To Location tab (location of tab highlighted with red rectangle
below) and will be presented with a number of options to enable them to “Go To” a particular
location of interest.
The user will be able to go to Alberta Township System (ATS) locations, Specific Street address
locations; most formally named features within the province; National Topographic Sheet (NTS)
extents.

Go To Address With this tool, the user can enter in most known street address and the site will go to that location.
The user can enter the address in the box and press search and if the address is found, that
location will be displayed on the map.
Go To Place Name With this tool, the user can enter in most known named features and the site will go to that
location. The user can enter the place name in the box and press search and if the place is
found, the location will be displayed on the map.

Go To ATS With this tool, the user can enter in a known location in Alberta Township System that location will
be displayed on the map.

Go To NTS Users can use this tool to enter any National Topographic System 1:50,000 scale map sheet and
the site will go to that location. The user can enter the address in the box and press search and if
the address is found, that location will be displayed on the map.
Go To GRR This tool provides users with the ability to search by name for one of the province’s 32 grazing
reserves. It may be helpful to first visit the ‘PGR Information and Maps’ webpage via internet
search to determine which grazing reserves are in your region of interest. After you have decided
on a reserve, you will need to use the ‘Identify Recreational Access’ button (instructions below) to
learn the contact information and access conditions of that grazing reserve.

Identify Recreational Access Tool When you have located the agricultural lease land you wish to get contact and condition
information on, ensure that you are on the ‘Getting Around’ tab, then click on the Identify
Recreational Access tool and then click within the disposition boundaries.
Information on the lease will be displayed on the left side of the screen and the user can click on
the Download Report button to get a PDF document including a map of the lease.

To Print Map and Contact Information Currently, printing is strictly limited to PDFs for the agricultural public land access contact and
condition information. Other options may be available in the future.
Scroll to the bottom of the information in the left hand sidebar. Click on the Generate PDF Report
button to create the report.

How to Print a PDF The PDF print comes in 2 parts. The first will be specific contact and conditions for the
agricultural lease and the second will be a map of the grazing lease.
