PREFACE

I didn’t always love painting. Yet growing up, I was surrounded by it with my mother’s paintings that hung all around the house. I tried it once or twice when I was young, but it was never anything serious. In the mid-90s, I started to get really into skateboarding. At that time, there were not many structures. I used to go to school with my board, it was the good old days. Today, I am 30 years old and I don’t pass up an opportunity to go skate the streets of Cannes, the city where I was born.

Painting, on the other hand, was accidental. At the age of 26, I suddenly felt the need to create, to free my mind.Since that day, not one second goes by without me drawing and cultivating my imagination. I have been able to exhibit in France several times and to collaborate with skate and snowboard brands.

The idea to paint on the front page of magazines came out of nowhere, too.It all started with a cover of Vice magazine. I sent them the artwork and they liked it. More motivated than ever, I took out my entire collection of Transworld, Thrasher and Skateboarder magazines and just drew away.

To make the project more interactive, I wanted to bring everyone together, from the photographers and athletes, to the brands and magazines.

But it was important that I remain faithful to my world, which consists of characters monstrously nice and open to the world. There is a great curiosity behind this process, a desire to learn and improve. Like life. Reinterpreting a picture is just that: it’s giving it a second chance, a new life.
