Foreword by CJ
Ramone
The Ramones helped kick-start the punk
movement and made rock history, their
raw sound, downtown fashion, and
explosive performances influencing
countless bands that followed. Songs
like “Blitzkrieg Bop,” “Rockaway Beach,”
“Sheena Is a Punk Rocker,” and “Rock ’n’
Roll High School” became anthems that
made the Ramones legendary.
Now, on the 40th anniversary of their
debut album—–one of the first punk albums
of all time—–comes this fully illustrated
book focusing on the iconic band’s music
through the years. The insightful and
comprehensive text by acclaimed rock
historian Martin Popoff includes new
interviews and a complete discography,
and is illustrated throughout with a
rich mix of photography and memorabilia.
Covered are the formation of the Ramones,
the recording and production of their
albums, the evolution of the band’s sound
through the years, in-depth looks at the
stories behind their songs, and more;
and the book features a special foreword
by CJ Ramone.
All Ramones fans and everyone interested
in the punk rock era will want this
ultimate volume for their collection.
“Joey, Johnny, Dee Dee, and Tommy set the standard for short, shocking punk composition and disposition for years to come, turning in anthems . . . that made the band the most beloved and recognizable of the entire punk era. . . . Covered incessantly, they’re always part of the conversation when integrity and purity in rock are discussed.”Martin Popoff
