Introducing the Question Words Poster Ask your students what words commonly beginquestions. Afterward, point to the Question WordsPoster and read each word with the class. Together,develop one or more questions for each word on thePoster. Explain to students that they can use thisPoster when they are writing or asking questions.

Introducing the Exclamation Words PosterReview with students what words begin exclamationsentences. Read the words on the Poster with theclass. As a group, develop one or more sentences foreach word and discuss when that exclamationsentence might be used. Tell students they can usethis Poster during their writing time.

Talk about when these words might be used.Guide students as they come up with a fewexamples of exclamation sentences. Review theexclamation words and sentences in thereproducible. Have students cut words from thebottom of the page and paste them at thebeginning of the correct sentences.Answers:Yes, Wow, Help, Stop, Whoa, Yikes, Ouch, and Absolutely.

Exclamation CharadesWrite each word from the Poster on a blank indexcard. Explain that one at a time, volunteers will picka card, read (to themselves) the exclamation word,then act out a situation that the word might besaid in. The rest of the class is to guess which wordfrom the Poster the student is acting out.
