What is a Qualified Environmental Professional (QEP)?

A QEP is an applied scientist or technologist registered with an appropriate professional

organization constituted under an Act.

The applicable professionals include professional Biologists (RPBio),

Geoscientists (PGeo), Foresters (RPF), Agrologists (PAg), Professional Engineers (PEng) and Applied Science Technologist

and Technicians (AScT).

QEPs must certify that they are qualified to conduct the type of assessment required.

Besides costs and time, here are some

other questions you may wish to ask when selecting a QEP:

Are you qualified to do ______? Are you familiar with the RDOS Water-

course Development (WDP) and /or Environmentally Sensitive

Development Permit (ESDP) process? What are your areas of expertise? What have you included in your esti-

mate (Permit fees, monitoring fees, etc)?
