QtestBASE is a professional system that targets
100% QA-coverage for reliable, fail-safe and secu-re workplaces. The technology allows to eliminate
any rollout risks to avoid costs or image dama-
ges. Use QtestBASE inside your User Acceptance
Testing (UAT) or in your standalone QA processes,
if you have
thousands of medium important workplaces or
a few extremely important workplaces
with a high availability and reliability.
Ensuring business-critical workplaces with
Application Fingerprint technology
Business-critical applications and workplaces
require 100% quality assurance coverage.
To identify the possible collisions, so called
Fingerprints are generated for each application.
They contain information about all the changes
the installation medium imprints on the system.
To identify the potential conflicts proactively
between the applications in a specific workplace
scenario, their fingerprints are compared with
each other.
Quality Assurance as a permanent process
integrated between packaging and rollout
Quality Assurance is often carried out between
established packaging and rollout processes.
QtestBASE is in principle independent of package
formats and can thus be used at different stages
in the process. For example it can be placed as a
pre-test, to check the conformity of installation
packages initially. In each case a controlled ap-
proval process is supported which documents the
QA before rolling out into a production environ-ment.
Using many years of experience in software
quality assurance, while developing QtestBASE
we have given a special care to the seamless
integration of QtestFLOW into existing processes
(and external workflow interfaces) as well as into
ticketing and runtime control of test executions.
Our QA philosophy: Reduce risks, identify
problems, back to packaging
In the past packaging and rollout phases have
used analytical methods. Package creation
expanded to package customization, conflict ma-
nagement or application isolation. But the focus
remains on application readiness.
The main goal of quality assurance is to ensure
the functioning of entire workplaces. The finger-
prints of the installation packages and applica-
tions have to be generated to detect business-
critical risks before the rollout. A successfullinstallation of a software package doesnt ensure
that the target environment is running conflict-
free as before.
After the identification of potential problems
which may break a workplace, the packages are
sent back to be repackaged. QA doesnt mean
application remediation.

Product solutionQtestBASE
QTESTBASE
The product name QtestBASE was coined from
quality, test and database. The productprovides a workflow optimized quality analysis of
software installations which are usually embed-
ded in packaging, rollout processes or in between
them, according to the overall requirements of
Quality Assurance (QA) within the User Accep-
tance Testing (UAT) or in standalone phases.
The repository, with its full history, is an essen-
tial basic component of the expert system. To
perform the analysis actively and flexibly, a self
learning system is used.
QtestBASE is based on Glass Box Testing and
dynamic analysis. By using our revolutionaryQtestAGENT technology the quality of any
software packages, patches or hotfixes can be
assured completely.
Basic QtestBASE module. Contains the essential core funcionality for the user interface.
Portable agent software to monitor all the applied changes during software installation or uninstallation
process.
Server-based job management for automated application compatibility analyses.
Workflow module for integration into overlaying workflow systems and custom processes.
Self learning expert system to support the test engineer in application interoperability confict analysis.
Modul for monitoring physical and virtual applications during runtime.

Workflow oriented and intuitiveuser interface
QTESTBASE
QtestSTUDIO is a central component of QtestBA-
SE. It provides the tester with a workflow orienteduser interface for test preparation, definition,
control and analysis. It provides the analyst a
comfortable tool for test result evaluation and
reporting.
The standard reports include for example Ap-
plication Fingerprint (all file system, registry and
other system changes of a single application),
App2App (conflicts between applications),
App2OS (conflicts of single application vs. oper-
ating system), Workplace2OS (conflicts between
the workplace definition (group of applications)
with the operating system) and many otherdetailed reports. The reporting may be adjusted
to the users specific requirements using a defined
interface at any time.
Intuitive usability is ensured by an ergonomic
user interface in a modern Windows 7 design.

Generation of completeApplication Fingerprints
QTESTBASE
By using highly developed QtestAGENT techno-
logy, its possible to detect and identify all kindsof changes during installation, uninstallation and
runtime to the file system, access rights, registry,
group policies or drivers. This results in an 100%
complete Application Fingerprint.
Portable, standalone, high performance
QtestAGENT is designed as portable software
that can run standalone in the test environment,
requiring no preinstallation, dependencies or
prerequisites. It accumulates basic snapshots (forexample operating system and patches) and dif-
ferential information of applications and software
components on the fly.
Multiple parallel processing, a special hybrid
mode and the optimization for Windows 7 gives
QtestAGENT a high runtime performance. It also
supports 64-Bit platforms and complete Unicode
character sets. All input and output files are in
XML format and encoded in UTF-8.

Self learningexpert system
QTESTBASE
The expert system QtestXPERT gathers expert
know-how in an ever updating knowledge basedatabase. The system uses various knowledge
sources such as the structure information of
software packages gathered by QtestAGENT, test
results and their evaluation by the expert. Other
sources include application compatibility rules
published by vendors (vendor rules), customer
specific rules and style sheets such as security re-
quirements and format specifications (customer
rules), and best practices.
Assisting decision making
The self learning expert system aims to con-
sistently assist the engineer in identifying conflicts
as well as improving efficiency by reducing neces-
sary testing effort. The increasing coverage and
continuous updates of QtestXPERTs knowledge
base will result in a reduction of effort and costswhen it comes to the evaluation of identified pro-
blems (such as dealing with installation conflicts).
The transfer of experts knowledge in a digital
form extends the usage of that knowledge signi-
ficantly and also increases the quality of decision
making by reducing the risk of making wrong
decisions.

QTESTBASE
In an App2App test, potential conflicts of ap-
plications with one another are identified andclearly displayed in a conflict matrix. The set of
displayed applications can be freely selected and
configured. The traffic light signal presentation
makes it possible to quickly recognize conflicts.
The integrated reporting engine makes it possible
to show the different level of abstractions of aReport. The same data can be used for manage-
ment summaries as well as for detailed reports or
