Entering its 5th year, the 2013 FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX® is back from Nov 1-3 at the Yas Marina Circuit. The race comes as the seventeenth round of the 2013 season, and marks the 5thrunning of the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. It is from its strong belief that the drive, passion and teamwork of sports mirror its business that QNET decided to continue its legacy of championing the world of motorsport by shifting gear onto the circuit of the greatest and fastest of them all, Formula 1. QNET- one of Asia’s leading direct selling companies, has been active in sports sponsorships around the world, including Formula 1®, football, badminton and hockey and has been involved in motorsport through its sponsorship of teams in the Formula BMW, Formula V6, and the GP2 Asia series since 2006. November 2011 marked its entry into the prestigious Formula One World Championship through its partnership with Team Marussia F1. The partnership between QNET and the Marussia F1 Team® represents a momentous evolution of QNET’s support of worldwide sports and the motorsports arena in particular. “It’s not about advertising money equals product sales, but F1 sports is clearly the platform to be on if you want to be known as a brand worth reckoning in the global village” said Haldun Arin, CEO of QNET.
“QNET also uses the race weekends to connect with its distributors and show them our appreciation. Earlier this year, we ran a contest for F1 fans among QNET customers and one of the winners was Egyptian Naguib Rizk who won himself an all expenses paid trip to Kuala Lumpur and two tickets to the F1 race in Malaysia in April 2013”, he added. Marussia F1 Team drives Max Chilton and Jules Bianchi took time off from preparing for the weekend to join the QNET team at the Rashid Paediatric Therapy centre in Dubai that provides high quality education and therapy to children with special needs. The centre is supported by QNET as part of its CSR initiatives in the UAE. Max Chilton and Jules Bianchi spent a few hours with the children dancing and interacting with them. FORMULA 1 ETIHAD AIRWAYS ABU DHABI GRAND PRIX® has established itself as Middle East’s biggest event which is set to be the standout sporting event of the year. The event has attracted big companies’ sponsorship from all over the world and is viewed by hundreds of millions worldwide. Based on statistics released by Formula One Management (FOM), aside from spectators at the circuits, the television audience itself increased to 527 million viewers in the 2010 season, regarded as one of the most thrilling in recent years with over 16,000 hours of coverage broadcast to 187 countries.
This year sees the F1® After-Race Concerts extended to four fantastic nights of music with some of the world’s biggest artists. Adding local flavour to the weekend is the addition of an Arabic After-Race concert on October 31, featuring Egypt’s very own Amr Diab, who will be joined by local singer Hussain Al Jassmi and Lebanese superstar Elissa. The three Arabic stars join an international line- up featuring for the first time in the Middle East, international music producer and rap artiste JAY Z

"Distributors get paid according to their output. It is fair and equal and because of the flexibility of time. We have also found that women are particularly successful in network marketing. They are excellent communicators, are good at relating to people, have endurance, do not give up easily, and are great multi-taskers,” he said. Globally, Network Marketing (NM), a popular method of Direct Selling, has been around for more than 50 years and in most first world countries, it is a highly regulated industry, recognized by governments as a legitimate business that contributes to the local economies. Regionally, it is interesting to note that the Direct Selling business is making inroads into many emerging economies, especially in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. This is confirmed by the WFDSA report that states that the industry is seeing a strong growth in emerging economies around the world, demonstrating the solid economic and entrepreneurial opportunity direct selling offers to people from all walks of life.
Mayer said according to the World Federation of Direct Selling Associations (WFDSA), which represents direct selling associations from more than 60 countries, the market size of the industry globally grew 5 per cent last year to hit US$153 billion in sales. He said globally, 90 million people are involved in the direct selling business.
Ranked in the top 30 direct selling companies in the world, QNET’s sales have jumped 70% in the last five years and the company is targeting US$1 billion in sales and a top 10 ranking in the world by 2018. In the Middle East, QNET is in the process of expanding its warehousing and logistics capacity and capability, to serve an ever-growing customer base across the MENA region which is on schedule for completion by the first quarter of 2014. “Product sales have continued to show strong growth during 2013, ratifying our decision to expand our warehouse (to 500 shipments per day),” said Mayer . “In the second quarter alone sales grew by 23 per cent compared to the first, while in third quarter the figure increased by another 21 per cent. These sales contributed to the company’s 8 per cent increase in global sales compared to 2012 (as at 30 June). QNET product sales transactions are averaging over 10,000 per month in the Middle East and North Africa as a whole, and peaked at 11,200 per month during the second quarter. “The region currently contributes to approximately 48 per cent of our global sales, demonstrating the popularity of our products and the method of direct marketing in this region,” adds Mayer. With the expansion of this facility by (March 2014), QNET aims to serve more than 20 countries in the Middle East and North Africa region and ship more than 120,000 products annually, making it the company’s second largest logistics facility after Malaysia, in terms of space and variety of products

The Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities of QNET, the prominent Asian direct selling company, have been recognized with an industry award.
At the OBTAINER Global Direct Selling Forum (OGDSF) held for the first time in the Middle East (Ras Al Khaimah, November 9th & 10th) QNET received the OBTAINER GLOBAL DIRECT SELLING AWARD 2013 for CSR in recognition of the wide ranging activities of the organization’s social responsibility arm - RYTHM Foundation.
RYTHM, which is an acronym Raise Yourself To Help Mankind, is dedicated to educating, inspiring and working with others to create a brighter future for those in need.
The MENA region is one of the fastest growing regions within the Direct Selling industry, which generated global sales of $167 billion in 2012. As a result the OGDSF attracted some 200 delegates from the Arab world and Indian Sub-Continent for the two-day event, which combined critical industry insight

QNET has contributed tremendously to worthy causes in the MENA region. In UAE, QNET recently signed a friendship agreement with Rashid Pediatric Therapy Centre, whereby support for the center will be provided in a variety of different ways over the coming years from financial support to cross cultural exchanges. In Egypt, over the years QNET has made significant donations to the 57357 Cancer Hospital, supported Bedaya NGO in organizing a campaign to distribute Ramadan food bags to poor families in Qalubia, Bani Sueif and Cairo. The company stated that while the Egyptian market did not perform as well as last year, it continued to show promise and contribute towards QNET’s sales in the region. Haldun Arin ,Chief Executive officer of QNET stated “This has been an eventful year for Egypt. While the World Bank is predicting weak economic growth and reports 13 percent unemployment, QNET remains firm in its resolve to stand by its distributors in Egypt. In 2012, Egypt played a very important role in strengthening our presence in the MENA region and while political events have impacted our sales in Egypt in 2013, we are committed to fulfilling our promise of contributing to the economy . ” This year ,QNET averaged approximately 10,000 product sales per quarter in Egypt. The most popular product was the HomePure water filtration system ,which sold more than 5000 units this year, followed by academic courses on the e-learning platform averaging around 4000 subscriptions so far. Hand crafted Swiss watches sold under the brand name Bernhard H Mayer proved to be popular among Egyptian youth with approximately 2000 pieces sold this year. QNET’s weight management program under the brand name InShape is slowly emerging as a favorite among both men and women in Egypt.
“Even though Egyptian import duties are higher than most other countries in Northern Africa and this year alone we have contributed nearly 1 million Egyptian Pounds towards import duties on our products, we see the value of the Egyptian market and its strategic role in the MENA region .” QNET product sales transactions are averaging over 10,000 per month in the Middle East and North Africa region as a whole, peaking at 11,200 per month during the second quarter. In the second quarter sales grew by 23 per cent compared to the first ,while in third quarter the figure increased by another 22 per cent. These sales contributed to the company’s 8 per cent increase in global sales compared to 2012
(as at 30 June). “The region currently contributes to approximately 48 per cent of our global sales ,demonstrating the popularity of our products and the method of direct selling in this region,” highlighted Arin . The top selling products shipped from the company’s logistics hub from Mussafah in Abu Dhabi, UAE, include the Swiss watch brand Bernhard H Mayer and the HomePure water filtration system. So far, QNET has contributed nearly 1 million Egyptian Pounds towards customs duties in Egypt . Most of QNET’s Egyptian distributors, known as Independent Representatives are based in Cairo, Alexandria, Mansoura and Giza. QNET also recently launched its very first locally sourced product under the personal care range through an Alexandria based manufacturer under the brand name Bell & Belle.

Dubbed as ‘ReVCon Morocco’ and ‘ReVCon Burkina Faso’, the two events were reflective of the Company’s appreciation of the effort collectively exerted by its IRs in Africa and its growing trust in the two promising markets. With a total participation of approximately 3,000 QNET distributors, known as Independent Representatives, ReVCon Morocco and ReVCon Burkina Faso were designed to train IRs in developing their sales and marketing skills, as well as, introducing them to the company’s array of available products in the region. Pathman Senathirajah, Managing Director of The V, QNET’s training and marketing partner that organizes these conferences, said that QNET is paying close attention to the African continent especially in light of the big successes that the company has achieved in many of its countries. Based on the sales figures since January 2013 MENA region contributes approximately 48% of the total world sales.
“By organising two major events in one month in Africa alone, we are openly sharing our strong belief and confidence in this remarkable region. The effects of such powerful training events on our market performance in terms of sales and influence can be far reaching”, he pointed out. QNET organizes events such as the ReVCon primarily to help provide its IRs in the region with a common platform to learn from professionals in the industry and to empower them with information about QNET’s products and services and to meet with the company officials and partners from all over the world. QNET also uses these events to recognize and felicitate all those who have been successful with the QNET business in the region. ReVCon Morocco was held last 15-18 Nov 2013, while ReVCon Burkina Faso was held last 22-25 November. Back in February 2012, the same conference took place in Egypt and was a success. His Excellency Mr. Taher Abouzied- the Egyptian minister of Sports was the festival’s guest of honor The success of the event was shared with the company's Co-Founder Mr. Joseph Bismark who flew into Egypt for the very first time to attend the festival and participate in this joyous event; Bismark spoke about QNET’s vision and how With Mr.Vijay Eswaran they founded QNET 15 years ago. The V Partner in charge of the Middle East and Africa region, Mr. Adly Hassan, who gave his testimony about how QNET started in Egypt, Hassan spoke also about the company's current status in the Egyptian market and QNET's Vision and future plans over there. The event marks the second festival for the "PathFinders Egypt” team under the leadership of V Council member Dr. Hossam Ibrahim as first one was held a year back on the 21st of Dec 2012 where super star Amr Diab kept the crowd entertained the whole night. This year, the entertainment was glamorous with the participation of two superstars in the Arab world Tamer Hosni and Nancy Ajram .The day was yet enhanced by Ahmed Essam's fireworks show that fascinated the attendees. “Today as we celebrate our 15th anniversary, we took the chance to show the bigger picture of our business through real success stories. Two of our distinguished IRs shared their journeys. They have attended last year’s (Pathfinders Egypt Festival 1) as prospects and this year they have been honored in the “Gold Achievers Ceremony” among 38 other IRs for being very productive and successful.
