‘Pure Imagination’ is a collection of

contemporary photographs, inspired by

Roald Dahl’s infamous revolting rhymes.

This book showcases a selection of

nine much loved, childhood peoms.

These peoms have been brought to life

through the combination of Fine Art,

Fashion and Photography.

‘Pure Imagination’ is a photographic

story book which shines a light on the

more mischevious side of these poems,

by illustrating Dahl’s characters through

fashion fused portrait photography.

ABOUT THE BOOK

After completing an Art Foundation

course at Wimbledon College of

Art and Design (2009), Bella initially

focused her artistic skills towards Fine

Art. She realised that her calling was

Photography. Bella is now currently in

her final year of Manchester Art School

(2013) studying Photography.

Bella talks about Photography as;

‘An artistic medium that enables me

to manipulate the truth by building

a narrative that allows viewers to

construct and develop their own ideas

and responses.

My work is mainly fashion based, which

I have combined with aspects of Fine

Art. This allows me to explore the

creativity of my imagination, achieved

by incorporating and manipulating

other artistic mediums.’

Dear friends.

We surely all agree there’s almost nothing

thing worse to see than some repulsive

little bum who’s always chewing chewing

gum.

Chewing all day long.

She chewed while bathing in the tub.

She chewed while dancing at her club.

She chewed in church and on the bus; it

was really quite ludicrous!

So far as children are concerned is never,

never let them near your television set.

Or better still just don’t install the idiotic

thing at all.

In almost every house we’ve been, we

watched them gaping at the screen.

They loll and slope and lounge about, and

stare until their eyes pop out.

Come with me and you’ll be in a world of

pure imagination.

Take a look and you’ll see

Into you’re imagination.

We’ll begin with a spin, travelling in the

world of my creation.

What we will see will defy explanation.

The small girl smiles.

One eyelid flickers.

She whips a pistol from her knickers.

She aims at the creature’s head

Bang bang. She shoots him dead.

Augustus Gloop!

The great big greedy nincompoop

How long could we allow this beast to

gorge and guzzle, feed and feast on

everything he wanted to?

HOT AND COLDMODEL: JESS CUSACK

01.2013 A woman who my mother knows

Came in and took off all her clothes.

Said I, not being very old,

‘By golly gosh, you must be cold!’

‘No, no!’ she cried. ‘Indeed I’m not!

I’m feeling devilishly hot!

And there, her little greedy eyes

See pills of every shape and size,

Such fascinating colours too,

Some green, some pink, some brown,

some blue.

She gobbles five, she gobbles ten,

She stops her gobbling only when

The last pill’s gone.

There are no more.

I want a ball,

I want a party,

Pink macaroons,

And a million balloons,

And performing baboons and

Give it to me now.

Don’t care how, I want it now.

Don’t care how, I want it now.

When little Snow-White’s mother died,

The King, her father, up and cried

“Oh, what a nuisance! What a life!

Now I must find another wife.”

However, in the end he chose,

A lady called Miss Maclahose,

Who brought along a curious toy,

That seemed to give her endless joy.
