EDITOR’S MESSAGE
The Foothill Lions
Club wishes a fond
“Good Luck in
Your New Adventures” to Lion
Gerald Sparks (Jerry). Lion Jerry
has been a mainstay of our club
for many years since his induc-
tion in 1988. Lion Jerry’s
daughter, our beloved Secretary Debbie Sparks was the
heart of our club for many years before her untimely
death in 2012.
Lion Jerry has moved on to Oregon to be closer to his
family. He sold his home and left Loma Rica in the rear-
view mirror on Sunday, June 19th. At our General
Meeting night on June 16th, Lion Jerry was in the club
lounge with his son Randy saying “Goodbye” and buying
drinks for everyone in the house.
We wanted to give him a good sendoff at the meeting
but he had to get back to loading up his “lifetime” in
boxes to take to his new home.
Lion Jerry was President a few times and always a good
source of reference for this Lion on matters of club busi-
ness. He was always available to help out with induc-
tion of new members and attend the many functions of
our club.
Let’s wish him happiness in his new life’s adventures in a
“cooler” home in Oregon! He will be greatly missed by
many of us. He said he was going to keep his member-
ship in his “home club” until he found one that reminded
him of us.
Best Wishes to Lion Gerald Sparks (Jerry to us).
Submissions for articles for the Bulletin should be sent
by the 25th of the month. You can reach me at 743-
5311 or email me @ sally.carter1944@sbcglobal.net.
Thank you to the Foothill Lions Club for
naming me “Lion of the Year—2016”. I
am humbled and honored.
Lion Sally P. Carter, Secretary
& Bulletin Editor

ANNUAL VETERAN’S DAY BBQ—CHAIRMAN LION CINDI FITZGERALD
On Memorial Day, May 30, 2016, in celebration of our
honored Veterans, the Foothill Lions Club held our annual
BBQ. All Veterans ate for FREE and all others had an out-
standing Tri-Tip or Chicken dinner with all the trimmings
for $8.00. As we all know the price of meat these days,
this was an excellent deal!
The Beale Air Force Honor Guard presented the colors in
their extraordinary way. The honor that is shown to the
American Flag is grand to see. The attendees removed
their hats and placed their hands over their hearts to
show their pride and reverence of
our Flag.
The newly elected District Gover-
nor Jamie Hart of the Willows Li-
ons Club joined us for the day and
lead the Pledge of Alliance to the
Flag for us.
We had well over 100 people shar-
ing the day with us and showing
their respect for our Veterans.
There was a representative of the
Blue Star Mom’s Organization, Lion
Mike Fitzgerald of the Foothill Lions
Club, and a radio DJ giving talks on
various topics. Good food, nice peo-
ple and the American Flag on dis-
play! How great is that?

WILD HOG GLORY DAZE AND LPCCI - CHAIRMEN LION SUSIE TRUNDY
& LION CINDI FITZGERALD & THE 4-H MEMBERS
Lions Jim DeGraff & Susan DeGraff (along with
Linzee) presented a dog show for the 4-H mem-
bers to show their expertise in Showmanship and
Obedience. Linzee DeGraff was in charge of the
judging for the dog show .
There was a costume contest held for the best dressed
animal/owner. And the winner was a Fisherman and
his Fish! It was a really hard choice in the costume con-
test as they all were great!
From the Raffle Prizes, the excellent food, the music,
the vendors, the horseshoe tournament, the LPCCI
representatives, the demonstrations by service dogs,
the 4-H members showing their dogs, and all the
hard working Lions and Lioness who put this togeth-
er for the community—I hope you all enjoyed your-
selves. We had fun doing it for you!
Thanks to all the attendees who came out to enjoy
our facility. JOB WELL DONE BY ALL!
