Virtual Reality World Community

● One year old community with over 90 members.

● We will be visiting a Public Library / Venues near you starting fall 2016.

● Focusing on areas including but not limited to:

Augmented Reality · Virtual Reality · The Future of Video Games · Human-

Computer Interaction · Virtual Worlds · Makerspaces · Stereoscopic Equipment

and Methods · Technology Startups · 3D Gaming · Wearable Technologies · Aerial

photography · Oculus Rift · VR Glasses

Immersion in a Virtual Reality World can

result in the physiological effects of

increased heart rate, dizziness and nausea.

User may also experience sensory conflict

by having the visual and vestibular systems

at odds while in an immersive, virtual

environment.

How often have you been told to go to your “happy place?”

Now, imagine a device that could take you to your “happy place.”

Virtual Reality has a magical ability to draw out an individual’s unthinking emotional reactions comes from its

immersive field of vision technology.

Other ingredients include, but may not be limited to, high frame rate, high screen refresh rate, high resolution, high

pixel fill density, low persistence, and various “input devices”.

What is the Field of View (FOV)?

● Your observable environment at any given time.

● The wider the field of view, the better the experience.

● Monocular FOV describes the field of view for one of

our eyes.

● Binocular FOV is the combination of the two monocular

fields of view in most humans.

● Where the two monocular fields of view overlap there is

the stereoscopic binocular field of view, about 114°,

where we are able to perceive things in 3D.

● Interesting fact is that we have different field of views

for different colors.

So, what does Virtual Reality have to do with bunnies?

Virtual Reality Headset Manufacturers have to choice.

Please help me understand the difference between VR and 3D?

“technical improvement of vintage spectacles by modern red and green 3D dimensional glasses. Using these glasses you can watch stereo pictures, 3D movies or play 3D games. When you go to the cinema with your glasses you will be the only one with such ones because they are the only one in the entire world”

“Back in the day there was no possibility to send truly separate images to each eye, so we used funky tricks like

red/cyan glasses.”

Now with VR, you get the same as a 3d tv, but much betterEach eye gets its own image but without any tricks :)

Let’s talks about technology, what has changed recently, why do we care?

“Facebook now owns virtual reality startup Oculus VR, after closing the $2bn acquisition, which was announced by the two companies in March, 2014” - theguardian.com

Let’s talk about technology, what has changed recently that is enabling all this?

typically that of an automobile, ship, aircraft,

or spacecraft, or that involved in the vibration

of a machine, building, or other structure.

Content is King… and those “VR” cameras aren’t cheap, Right?

….and then there were developers armed with open-source hardware.

….and those developers demanded platforms to deal with the explosion of devices.

Technology drivers Market conditions

● Long history of innovation continues to

grow with technology.

● Accelerated by smartphone accelerometers

and gyroscopes.

● 360 VR content capturing technology is

evolving at a rapid pace.

● Developer ecosystems forming explosion

of devices available.

● VR Video support on Facebook, YouTube

and 100’s of VR apps.

● Platforms emerging to streamline the

production and distribution processes.

● Deloitte Global predicts that virtual reality

(VR) will have its first billion dollar year in

2016, with about $700 million in

hardware sales.

● As for VR content, we expect most revenue

generated to come from games sales, with

titles sold at between $5 and $40,

generating over $300 million.

Now, let’s think about some real world applications.

The recent maturation of Google’s augmented-reality platform, Tango, is inspiring retailers to invest more in

virtual commerce. Google began working on Tango in 2012 as part of its in-house technology incubator, Advanced

Technology and Projects.
