The physical property of a liquid is called viscosity.

Viscosity is the resistance

of a liquid to flowing.

All liquids have their own viscosity because they may

or may not resist to flowing.

The greater the viscosity, the slower it

flows….

The viscosity of magma

depends upon its silica

content and temperature.

What is silica?

Particles of the elements of silicon

and oxygen

High Silica = High Viscosity

(flows slow) and light colored rocks

Low Silica = Low Viscosity(flows fast) and dark

colored rocks

One example of light-colored rocks is

rhyolite.

One example of dark colored rocks is

called basalt.
