The Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) industry was struggling with obtaining a reliable BTU value through transportation of LNG across seas. The large LNG ships would utilize the methane vaporization to power their ships which ultimately changed the components of the gas and altered the BTU value, resulting in excessive profit loss.
Continuing to Provide Industry Solutions
As Valtronics Solutions dove further into the industry, they sought the help of the Dominion Cove Point, MD LNG facility for testing the Mustang Intelligent Vaporizer Sampling System® and creating a solution to the LNG tanker design flaw. The Mustang® Sample Conditioning System and Mustang® Vaporizer worked together to prevent Joule-Thomson cooling, create Analytically Accurate® vaporization, and save LNG companies thousands of dollars.
As the LNG division grows, we are taking our products world wide and enhancing the quality of our company and products. We hold ISO 9001 certification and ANAB accredidation for quality control and safety within our production facility. Our LNG vaporization units hold ATEX certification and can be used throughout the European industries and we’re processing IEC EX certification for other parts of the world.

Start of Sample C o n d i t i o n i n g and Control
The measurement and control industry has always had accuracy at the top of their priority list and we have been simplifying the process for many years. When we
moved into the sampling aspect of our company, we began the design process that would become the foundation for many products to come.
The Mustang® Sample Conditioning System was developed in 2004. A letter was sent out to the employees with a $100 award for the person that could come up with the perfect name for the system. Owners, Ken & Brenda, loved horses and Engineer, Walt, was passionate about the P51 Mustang fighter jet. With the fierce and reliant history of these images, the direct mount MSCS was named the P51 Mustang®. The remote mount was titled the Pony®.
The first design was housed in a stainless steel box with heat tracing wrapped inside to keep the sample warm, and offset Joule-Thomson cooling (which
results in inaccurate measurement). As the design progressed, heaters are now used within the enclosures, but the patented design is still powered with the heat tracing used to power the box, eliminating the need for costly services to run rigid conduit to the sample point.
In 2004, the initial design was finalized and taken to Dominion’s cold box testing facility in Clarksburg, WV. The sample was setup to take a large pressure drop within an environment ranging from -30 deg. F to 100 deg. F, which would be prime conditions for Joule-Thomson cooling and result in an accurate sample. Valtronics and Dominion left for dinner and then slept on it, and when they returned the next day (over 12 hours in the testing conditions), the sample held it’s temperature. To further prove the design, the MSCS was taken to the Elpaso cold box in Houston, TX and passed that test with flying colors as well.
Mustang Sampling® was developed as a sister-company to Valtronics and continues to develop and provide Analytically Accurate™ products for measurement and control.
