The following standard code of engine whistles applies at all stations junctions and sid ings not otherwise specially provided for in the Local Code of Engine Whistles shewn in the following pages
The revised Standard and Local Engine Whistle Codes will come into operation as and fro m 27th April 1952
In a rder to avoid annoyance to passengers at stations and residents in the neighshybou rhood of t he Railway Drivers are requested not to make mo re frequent use ofthe engine whistles than is absolutely necessary to ensure safe and efficient working in compliance with the Rules and Regulations

Before an Up Passenger t rain is started fro m the Down Main Platform line Point No 29 which becomes facing for this movement must be secured in the normal posishytion by clip and padlocked The signalman at Weymouth Station Signal Box must obtain an assurance fro m the Platform Inspector in charge that the point is clipped and padlocked before lowering the signal for the train to leave the platform
INSTRUCTIONS FOR WORKING WEYMOUTH TRAMWAY The instructions shewn on pages 103 to 107 vide Signal Notice S2141 dated
Decem ber 1947 are am plified as follows Clause II (c) to be amended to read

The preceding instructions in this clause must be observed as far as they apply wheneve r it is necessary to r un a second through passenger train to the Quay

A BAC employee will be in charge at the Level Crossing Gate House and wi ll o perate the levers cont rolling the level-crossing gates
When the airc raft have been manoeuvred adjacent to the level crossing gates t he Gate O perator will tele phone to the signalman advising him that the aircraft are ready to cross the rail way line When the signalman is in a position to allow the level crossshying to be used he must operate t he Interlocking Lever (No 24) which releases the Grou nd Frame leve rs in the Level Crossing Gate Control House and must advise the Gat e O perator t hat this has been done When the Level Crossing is again clear for the passage of trains and the gates have been closed t he Gate Operator will advise the signalman by telephone and the Inte rlocking Lever (No 24) must be restored to its normal position

A BAC employee will be in charge at the Level Crossing Gate House and wi ll o perate the levers cont rolling the level-crossing gates
When the airc raft have been manoeuvred adjacent to the level crossing gates t he Gate O perator will tele phone to the signalman advising him that the aircraft are ready to cross the rail way line When the signalman is in a position to allow the level crossshying to be used he must operate t he Interlocking Lever (No 24) which releases the Grou nd Frame leve rs in the Level Crossing Gate Control House and must advise the Gat e O perator t hat this has been done When the Level Crossing is again clear for the passage of trains and the gates have been closed t he Gate Operator will advise the signalman by telephone and the Inte rlocking Lever (No 24) must be restored to its normal position
Should aircraft come to a stand on the level crossing through failure the Gate Operator w ill immediately advise the signalman by telephone in order that the necesshysary additional protective measures may be taken

The Hallen Marsh Junction Signalman must obtain th is assurance or take steps to ascertain that the line is clear after passing a Dock trip before allowing a train to proceed over the Single line

The Ground Frame is electrically released by Interlocking Lever No 24 from Filton West Ju nction Signal Box and bolts the level crossing gates w hich open parallel to the railway line

The Level Crossing gates are operated fro m an electric panel in the Gat e Co ntrol House
Telephonic communication is provided between Filton West Junction Signal Box the Level Crossing Gate Control House and the Filton Aerodrome Flying Cont rol Tower
A BAC employee will be in charge at the Level Crossing Gate House and wi ll o perate the levers cont rolling the level-crossing gates
When the airc raft have been manoeuvred adjacent to the level crossing gates t he Gate O perator will tele phone to the signalman advising him that the aircraft are ready to cross the rail way line When the signalman is in a position to allow the level crossshying to be used he must operate t he Interlocking Lever (No 24) which releases the Grou nd Frame leve rs in the Level Crossing Gate Control House and must advise the Gat e O perator t hat this has been done When the Level Crossing is again clear for the passage of trains and the gates have been closed t he Gate Operator will advise the signalman by telephone and the Inte rlocking Lever (No 24) must be restored to its normal position
Should aircraft come to a stand on the level crossing through failure the Gate Operator w ill immediately advise the signalman by telephone in order that the necesshysary additional protective measures may be taken
SEVERN TUNNEL INSTRUCTIONS 6 SPEED OF TRAINS

When the Dock trip has cleared the catchpoint on either side of the single line the Port of Brist ol Authority Shunter will middot give t o the Hallen Marsh Signalman an assurance by means oft he t elephone that the Dock trip has passed clear of the running line after he has satisfied himself that no veh icle has been left on the running line side of t he catch point that no load has become dis placed fouling the r unning line and that the single line is clear The message t o t he Signalman must be given th us Engine and all vehicles now clear of catchpoint and the running lin e is clear
The Hallen Marsh Junction Signalman must obtain th is assurance or take steps to ascertain that the line is clear after passing a Dock trip before allowing a train to proceed over the Single line

The Level Crossing gates are operated fro m an electric panel in the Gat e Co ntrol House
Telephonic communication is provided between Filton West Junction Signal Box the Level Crossing Gate Control House and the Filton Aerodrome Flying Cont rol Tower
A BAC employee will be in charge at the Level Crossing Gate House and wi ll o perate the levers cont rolling the level-crossing gates
When the airc raft have been manoeuvred adjacent to the level crossing gates t he Gate O perator will tele phone to the signalman advising him that the aircraft are ready to cross the rail way line When the signalman is in a position to allow the level crossshying to be used he must operate t he Interlocking Lever (No 24) which releases the Grou nd Frame leve rs in the Level Crossing Gate Control House and must advise the Gat e O perator t hat this has been done When the Level Crossing is again clear for the passage of trains and the gates have been closed t he Gate Operator will advise the signalman by telephone and the Inte rlocking Lever (No 24) must be restored to its normal position
Should aircraft come to a stand on the level crossing through failure the Gate Operator w ill immediately advise the signalman by telephone in order that the necesshysary additional protective measures may be taken

A two-lever Ground Frame know n as BAC Ground Frame located in the Bristor Aeroplane Company s Gate Cont rol House is sit uated o n BAC property on the Down side of the Down Main line between Fil ton W est Junction and Henbury at approxishymately 113m 2Sch
The Ground Frame is electrically released by Interlocking Lever No 24 from Filton West Ju nction Signal Box and bolts the level crossing gates w hich open parallel to the railway line

The Level Crossing gates are operated fro m an electric panel in the Gat e Co ntrol House
Telephonic communication is provided between Filton West Junction Signal Box the Level Crossing Gate Control House and the Filton Aerodrome Flying Cont rol Tower
A BAC employee will be in charge at the Level Crossing Gate House and wi ll o perate the levers cont rolling the level-crossing gates
When the airc raft have been manoeuvred adjacent to the level crossing gates t he Gate O perator will tele phone to the signalman advising him that the aircraft are ready to cross the rail way line When the signalman is in a position to allow the level crossshying to be used he must operate t he Interlocking Lever (No 24) which releases the Grou nd Frame leve rs in the Level Crossing Gate Control House and must advise the Gat e O perator t hat this has been done When the Level Crossing is again clear for the passage of trains and the gates have been closed t he Gate Operator will advise the signalman by telephone and the Inte rlocking Lever (No 24) must be restored to its normal position
Should aircraft come to a stand on the level crossing through failure the Gate Operator w ill immediately advise the signalman by telephone in order that the necesshysary additional protective measures may be taken
SEVERN TUNNEL INSTRUCTIONS 6 SPEED OF TRAINS

When the Dock trip has cleared the catchpoint on either side of the single line the Port of Brist ol Authority Shunter will middot give t o the Hallen Marsh Signalman an assurance by means oft he t elephone that the Dock trip has passed clear of the running line after he has satisfied himself that no veh icle has been left on the running line side of t he catch point that no load has become dis placed fouling the r unning line and that the single line is clear The message t o t he Signalman must be given th us Engine and all vehicles now clear of catchpoint and the running lin e is clear
The Hallen Marsh Junction Signalman must obtain th is assurance or take steps to ascertain that the line is clear after passing a Dock trip before allowing a train to proceed over the Single line

Telephonic communication is provided between Filton West Junction Signal Box the Level Crossing Gate Control House and the Filton Aerodrome Flying Cont rol Tower
A BAC employee will be in charge at the Level Crossing Gate House and wi ll o perate the levers cont rolling the level-crossing gates
When the airc raft have been manoeuvred adjacent to the level crossing gates t he Gate O perator will tele phone to the signalman advising him that the aircraft are ready to cross the rail way line When the signalman is in a position to allow the level crossshying to be used he must operate t he Interlocking Lever (No 24) which releases the Grou nd Frame leve rs in the Level Crossing Gate Control House and must advise the Gat e O perator t hat this has been done When the Level Crossing is again clear for the passage of trains and the gates have been closed t he Gate Operator will advise the signalman by telephone and the Inte rlocking Lever (No 24) must be restored to its normal position
Should aircraft come to a stand on the level crossing through failure the Gate Operator w ill immediately advise the signalman by telephone in order that the necesshysary additional protective measures may be taken
