PLEASE REMEMBER we are an ‘egg & nut free’ school: no eggs,
peanut butter, nuts or nutella spread to come to school at any
time. Please assist us to keep our students safe. Thank you.
Keep your hands and feet to yourself. Everyday Counts!
Reduce, Re-use, Recycle, Re-Think We don’t swear at Epping Views!
Sustainability: It’s our responsibility
YEAR 5 & 6 SWIMMING
The swimming program for Year 5 & 6 is compulsory
as set out by the Education Department. If you are
having difficulty paying please see our Business
Manager Jane regarding a payment plan. Anyone
looking for an exemption must speak with our PE
Leading Teacher Seb Scanu.
SCHOOL REVIEW
Thank you to the staff, students and
families that have been contributing to our surveys
around the highlights of our school over the past
four years. It is very clear that our school
community values our multicultural school, the
school ethos of sustainability and our school values.
SCHOOL FUNDRAISING COMMITTEE
The Fundraising Committee are to be
congratulated on their efforts over the
weekend. Whilst the queues of waiting
voters were almost non existent
throughout most of the day they did
manage to raise $650. The disco is on this Friday
night and the Fundraising Committee is again
looking for volunteers to support them. Please let
the office staff know if you can assist. The ultimate
goal for all their current fundraising is the
gymnasium.
NAPLAN
Our year 3 and 5 students have now completed the
online NAPLAN testing. Results will be back in the
school later in the year. Parents are given a paper
copy of their child’s results. Parents often need these
results for future school enrolments so please keep
this copy in a safe place as it is difficult to replace it.
SCHOOL UNFORM
The School Council have endorsed a uniform
policy for our school and as such all families are
expected to abide by the uniform. Plain black
pants, leggings etc are the expected uniform. Sports leggings with patterns, colours, logos etc
are not permitted. If your child tells you they can
wear them then they are not telling the truth.
Beginning in January 2020 all year Prep - 4
students must use an Epping Views school bag.
Please make sure that you have one ready for the
school year. We are selling them for $40 at the
moment. We also have a small number of second
hand bags for sale.
When you enrol your child you sign a form to say
you will abide by the uniform. School Council is
keen for all students to be a part of the EVPS
team and as such all families need to follow the
uniform policy.
RESPONSIBILITY
Staff are working with students
on taking responsibility for
themselves: their learning, their
behaviour, their actions. Many times children will
tell their parents one story and the staff another
version. By the time we investigate and talk to a
number of students and staff we often have a
different version to speak with parents about.
Please be assured that we do spend a great deal of
time following up matters reported to us so that
we can best support students, staff and families.
If you have any questions please speak with our
Wellbeing Team.

Construction of a new roundabout at the intersection of Lyndarum Drive and Dunolly Street
will begin shortly.
There will also be some minor road improvement works on Mansfield Street, Dunolly Street
and Lyndarum Drive.
The upgrade will improve traffic flow and congestion around Epping Views Primary School,
especially during busy school drop-off and pick-up times.
The construction is expected to take up to six weeks, depending on the weather, with
completion by the end of June. Traffic management will be in place, however there may
some inconvenience during the construction period. We thank you for your understanding.

FAT IN FOODS You may not think you eat too much fat, because much of it is hidden in meals we prepare or buy and in foods like cakes, pastries, biscuits, chips and sauces. Because you can't see it, you don't know how much fat you are eating or what type it is. These diagrams show how much fat or sugar is hidden in certain foods and how you can make meals that are traditionally high in fat healthier. A teaspoon of fat (yellow) contains 4 grams of fat. A teaspoon of sugar (white) contains 4 grams of fat.
WINTER WORKOUT TIPS
With the cold weather now setting in, it is often more tempting to stay indoors than brave the outside and exercise. But it is just as important to exercise and be active in winter as it is in warmer times. Keeping your family active over winter can lead to a stronger immune system, making you less likely to catch colds and flu. And being outdoors in the fresh air (no matter how cold the air is!) also means you are not breathing in as much ‘indoor air’ which may be contaminated with colds and flu.
You should feel warmer and reenergised after exercise as well! So what are you waiting for (summer is 7 months away still!!).
Grab a coat, hat and warm shoes and head out for a family walk or other type of physical activity.
Remember these exercise tips during winter.
Warm up - Cold temperatures can make your muscles tight and prone to injury. Make sure you do a thorough warm-up prior to your exercise. (eg. jogging on the spot or some star jumps)
Insulate your body – If exercising outdoors, wear layers of clothing. Layering provides the most effective heating method and allows you to remove the top layer if you get too hot.
Drink up - It's just as important to stay hydrated when exercising in winter as it is in summer, even though you might not feel as thirsty.
Wear sunscreen – You can still get burnt in winter, so if you are exercising outdoors slip, slop and slap.
