The learning objectives of this lesson is to:

• Identify different ways to prevent diabetes.

Introduction

Living with diabetes can be quite a challenge but like most

things in anyone’s life, it can be manageable if we have

discipline and self-control.

Depending on what type of diabetes a person has, there

needs to be a lot of things to constantly remember. The food

we eat and the restrictions that need to be imposed on one’s

self should always be considered by a person with diabetes.

• Healthy diet:

What, when and how much you eat plays an important role in

regulating how well your body manages blood sugar level.

regular exercise helps your body lower blood sugar, promote

weight loss, reduce stress and enhance overall fitness.

All people with diabetes need to learn about their condition

in order to make healthy lifestyle choices and manage their

diabetes.

control of type 2 Diabetes.

Type 1 Diabetes always requires daily injections of insulin.

planning and may require medications and/or insulin to

assist the body in making or using insulin more effectively.

those ways.
