Transcript of Presentation3

Ellie Goulding ‘Fly’ P1 – 18, Laura Norton, Katie McKenna, Neil Cointet

Ideas

Edit on the beat of the song such as as the start of the song have 'the star' in the middle of a location and have the camera move round her showing shot clips of different angles

Lots of use of slow motion shots, as it is quite a relaxed chilled song.

Landscape and lighting, the use of soft lighting and ‘golden-hour’ shooting.

Possibility of a side story of either a relationship between a young couple or a friends life skills.

Codes And Conventions of Indie Pop

Narrative alongside the performance

Use of filters to give a memory/age to the video to create a positive or negative light.

Mise-en-Scene – using natural or abstract locations to create a fictional idea and add narrative

Camerawork – Heavy camerawork to add focus on the artist to show her performance.

Paloma Faith – ‘Picking up the Pieces’

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=Ijel4Vcqd9g

We choose Paloma Faith as our example as our similar artist to Ellie Goulding. We thought that ‘picking up the pieces’ was a good example as it included a side narrative aswell as her singing. She also is the same genre as Ellie Goulding. Her type of performance is mature pop.

Godwins Points

Here we have chosen three of Godwin's Points that we are going to represent:

• Genre Characteristics – performance in a location, using natural locations; side narrative

• Visual and Music/Visual and Lyrics – changes in pace, change in location, cutting on the beat at times.

• Selling the Artist – Changes in costume, use of close ups.

Location

Indie pop uses variation of abstract locations, we are going to try to re-create this by using locations such as:

• Cambridge Roof tops

• Natural Landscapes (Fields, Woods and Hills)

We would film these during ‘golden hour’ to add effect and obscurity.

Effects

‘Golden-hour’ the hour before the sun sets to make the shot as surreal as possible.

As the camera’s are of a poorer quality and capability we will be using Premier pro to add most of the effects such as filter, lighting, focus point, color correction and tints.

Casting

‘Ellie Goulding’ will be played by Katie McKenna

For our side story we wanted to have it based around someone who is interested in sport.
