NOISE POLLUTION 13BPH60-13BPH71

What is noise pollution? Noise pollution is any unwanted or offensive sounds that

unreasonable disturb our daily lives. Noise pollution can also be refers to sound in the

environment that are caused by humans and that threaten the health or welfare of human or animal inhabitant.

Noise pollution

Noise from industries

How is sound measured? The sound pressure level is measured in decibels(DB). A sound level meter is used to measure the decibel levels

of sound.

Noise Noise pollution distribution

When does sound become noise? People react to sound in different ways. Some sound can

distract us and break our concentration. When this happens, the sound becomes unwanted noise.

Often it is not the pitch or the loudness that makes a sound annoying . Sometimes it is the repetitive nature of the sound and our inability to control it that makes it annoying. Cars alarms and the seemingly endless barking of a degage good examples.

Noise and sound pollution Noise from speakers to the environment

What are the causes of noise pollution?

Traffic Construction Aircraft Dogs barking Lawn mowers Music from cafes & private residences etc. Neighbors Alarms (house, car) Electrical appliances (Ac, TV etc.)

Noise pollution Stress

Some things can amplify noise High density housing Mixed business/residential areas Busy roads through residential areas Poor insulation

Traffic noise At low speeds, most traffic noise is caused by vehicle

engines, exhausts and brakes. The stop star braking and acceleration during peak-hour congest also increases noise levels.

Motorway emit a constant noise. Trucks and motorcycles are responsible for the peak noise

against the background rumble.

What are effect of noise pollution? Stress Sleeplessness, fatigue Hearing problem/ deafness Poor concentration Production loss in the workplace Lost of psychological well-being Cardiovascular issues Mental health problems

Sound Vs Noise Sound is a form of energy that is transmitted by pressure

variation which the human ear detect. When one plays a musical instrument, say a guitar, the

vibrating chords set air particle into vibration and generate pressure waves in the air

Noise & sound Noise is unwanted sound Sound is the quickly varying pressure wave travelling

through a medium. When sound travels through air, the atmospheric pressure varies periodically.

The number of pressure variations per second is called the frequency of sound, and Is measured in Hertz(Hz) which is defined as cycles per second.

Noise through speakers

Extreme noise At its most extreme,-instant and permanent hearing loss can

occur. Explosive sound with peak noise levels of 140 decibels(db) or

more can destroy cells in inner ear and cause permanent deafness.

Extended exposure to loud noise can also lead to long term hearing loss.

A noise level of 85 DB, should be sustained by a worker for no more than 8 hours a day. This is about the same as the noise level in street with heavy traffic. Higher noise levels can cause permanent hearing loss unless protective measure are taken.

Extreme sound to the ear

Prevention of noise pollution

1.by enacting strong rules and regulation to the public against any person that involve in producing illegal noise.2.By reducing the volume of speakers 3.ByConstruction of sound proof rooms for noisy machines in

industries4.Eliminating the source of noise from its origin.5.By modifying the path, along which the sound is transmitted6.By providing the receiver with some form of protection

Conclusion Noise pollution or noise disturbance is the disturbing or

excessive noise that may harm the activity or balance of human or animal life. The source of most outdoor noise worldwide is mainly caused by machines and transportation systems, motor vehicles, aircraft, and trains.

Noise pollution is very dangerous to both man and animals because it can cause many effect to their health and also to the environment .

So noise pollution should be control and be under consideration .
