HENRY JAMESM. PECAA
Best Volleyball
Receiver andincluded in theMythical Six in the2006 PalarongPambansaAge: 16 yrs. OldHeight: 511
It is great honor forTimbao ElementarySchool (TES) because this
player was honed to become a very competitivevolleyball player in thesaid school in ourschool.
Even since then, I havenoticed his determinationand prowess in playingvolleyball, said Mr.Michael Gravoso, theschools volleyball trainor, when asked about HenryJames Pecaa, the schools 2001 captain ball.
As recalled by the trainor,Uneg , as fondly called
by his cousins, was alwayswatching and even joiningthe practice games by the
players last 1999.Although they wereresiding in barangayTimbao, he was notstudying in our school butin San Vicente ElementarySchool. Mr. Gravosoencouraged Uneg totransfer in our schoolwhich he did the followingschool year as a newGrade IV pupil. At that grade level and hisage, he was already aregular
member of the team. Withthe determination andskills shown by the team, they became the districtchampion on 2000. Thefollowing year, he becamethe captain ball of theteam. With him as the
leader, they also made it tothe districts publicschools championship.Even if they lost to the
private school during thedual meet, he was picked
by the winner to beincluded in their team in
preparation for the Unit
Meet.Unfortunately, he was notable to play in the UnitMeet because he got afever which lasted fordays. I was very disappointedbecause he was not able todisplay his prowess in
playing volleyball. Butthen, even if it happened, I
still believed that he can farther with what he has, says Mr. Gravoso. His career as a volleyball
player did not shine whenhe was already a highschool student because theschool
where he enrolled was notactive in sports. He was2nd year high school whenI introduced him to Mr.Edwin Souza, coach of theUniversity of PerpetualHelp of Laguna (UPHL),who by that time was
actually scouting for potential players whowould compose theirschools volleyball team.Uneg transferred to UPHLas a varsity player on2003. In this institution, his skills were evenenhanced. The school had
been a consistentchampion because of the
players skills. At present, Uneg at hisheight of 5 11, is nowincluded in the volleyballteam of University of Sto.Tomas as a varsity player. It is not impossible thatthat one day, Uneg willl beincluded in the nationalteam which will representour country duringinternationalcompetitions.
