Preparation for Worship
“Ride On! Ride On in Majesty” by Henry H. Milman (1791-1868)
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
Hark! All the tribes Hosanna cry;
O Savior meek, pursue Thy road
With palms and scattered garments
strowed.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die.
O Christ, Thy triumphs now begin
O‟er captive death and conquered sin.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
The angel armies of the sky
Look down with sad and wondering eyes
To see the approaching Sacrifice.
Ride on, ride on in majesty!
In lowly pomp ride on to die.
Bow Thy meek head to mortal pain.
Then take, O Christ, Thy power and reign.

Call to Worship
Leader: Rejoice! Rejoice you sons of Zion, and shout for joy, you daughters of
Jerusalem! Look and see, your king is coming to you.
People: He comes triumphant and victorious, yet humble and riding
on a donkey.
Leader: The Lord will now save his people as a shepherd saves his flock from
danger.
People: Like precious stones in a crown, we will shine in God’s own
land.
Processional #197 Hosanna, Loud Hosanna
Prayer of Confession
Gracious and Merciful God, we profess your Son, Jesus Christ, to be Lord
of our lives, but there are areas of our lives that we do not eagerly submit
to his lordship. We keep for ourselves our feelings and our judgments,
afraid we might be called to forgive when we are not ready. We keep for
ourselves our resources, unwilling to sacrifice. We keep for ourselves our
“personal faith”, afraid we might be called to be the light of the world. We
keep to ourselves our gifts and our talents, saying, “Someone else could do
it better”, or “I have served my turn”. Loving God, confront us again with
what the lordship of Jesus Christ must mean in our lives. Help us to let go
of the parts of ourselves we withhold. Forgive and restore us, renew and
inspire us, make us whole and holy. In Christ’s name we pray, Amen.
Assurance of Forgiveness
One: The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting unto everlasting.
As far as the East is from the West, so far has God removed our
transgression from us. In the name of Jesus Christ, we are all forgiven.
People: Thanks be to God.

Travel to Palestine, Israel, and Jordan - September 28-October 8, 2018.
Imagine seeing Jesus‟ world as it is today 2000 years after he rode into Jerusalem
on a borrowed donkey! Plan now to join Grace‟s partnership trip September 28-
October 8. Visit our Palestinian partner church in Nablus, meet new minister,
Deacon Wadie, and visit Father Ibrahim in Zarka, Jordan. See sites of Jesus‟
ministry in Israel and Palestine, and meet local people to learn about their hopes
and the challenges facing them today. Space is limited, so inquire early to
indicate your interest. An optional extension in Jordan is planned for October
8-12. Contacts: Susan Wilder, wildersus@gmail, and Kathy Drinkard,
