PRAYER FOR THE PERSECUTED CHURCH
Open Doors and Barnabas Fund exist to serve our persecuted
brothers and sisters in different ways throughout the world.
Can you believe it....?
• 215 million believers face persecution for their faith in
Christ; they are beaten, killed, forcibly detained, denied
education and job opportunities, their churches and
homes bombed and burned, their children abducted ...
• Hindu extremists in India have threatened to wipe out
every non-Hindu religion by 2021. ...
• 60,000 North Korean Christians are receiving food,
clothes and medicines to help them survive
• Pakistan is the second most dangerous place to be a
Christian. Aasia Bibi has been in prison for nine years
after defending her beliefs when she was ridiculed. She
could face the death penalty
• More than 100,000 South Sudanese Christian refugees
have fled to Camp Rhino in northern Uganda this year
alone, where Barnabas Fund has already provided food
aid to save countless lives
• Just £15 would provide three children with a Bible each,
to ensure that the next generation of believers is able to
learn about Jesus and grow in their faith
CHRISTMAS CHOIR
PLEASE JOIN US,
PARTICULARLY IF YOU
ARE MALE!
The Traditional Carol Service is
a significant part of our
Christmas outreach. People
enjoy listening to the choir
items as well as singing carols.
We have a smaller choir at the
9am service and it is
augmented by people who join
the choir just for Christmas;
around 4 weeks of practices.
Each year, I hope that more
men will join us. Last year, I
had four men, but one has now
left the area and it is very hard
to make three men sound like
a full choir. While is helpful to
be able to read music, many
who join don’t, and we try to
have sound files of the carols
that we sing. It is fun, a
satisfying achievement and if
we want a choir at the Carol
Service, we need singers!
Practices will be held in late
November and December.

OUR SPACE, HELP NEEDED
On the first Saturday of each
month Christ Church hosts 'Our
Space', where families with
children with additional needs
can come to play and relax. We
would love a few more helpers
with this group: volunteers to
play with the children; to chat
to parents; to dish out cuppas
and cake; and help set out and
tidy up. Please contact Judith
Renton on 07747000644
or jrenton7@gmail.com to find
out more.
INTERNATIONAL DAY OF
PRAYER FOR THE
PERSECUTED CHURCH
The monthly prayer meeting
using the Prayer News DVD will
be on Mon 22nd from 7.30 - 8.30
in church. We shall focus on
India, Syria and Malaysia.
Perhaps something from Sunday
will encourage you to join us as
we support those for whom to
follow Christ demands their all.
OPERATION CHRISTMAS

There will be an opportunity to
drop shoe boxes at Church in
early November for children who
would not otherwise receive a
Christmas present. Contact the

LIGHT LOUNGE
The Light Lounge is a new
community project at St Barnabas
(Inham Nook) aiming to provide a
warm and welcoming space for
members of the community to
come and spend time together.
We are looking for volunteers to
help facilitate this by coming on a
Tuesday, talking to people who
walk in and generally being
friendly faces in the room. You
don’t have to commit to coming
every week. If you are interested
in helping please put your name
and email on the sign-up sheet at
the back of church and I will get
in touch to give you more
information and put together a
rota. Emily
