Reporting on User Defined Fields (UDEFs)

We’ve flattened out the data to make UDEF reporting easier.

Historically, reporting on UDEF’s was difficult due to the table structures. They were ideal for

storing UDEF info but not ideal for reporting on UDEF info.

Reporting on User Defined Fields (UDEFs)

• Available for new Projects and Opportunities areas (with plans to add to more areas).

• There are a limited number of UDEF’s provided for each area. We do have the ability to

extend this in the future, if necessary.

• Column names in our model are generic (UDEF Text 1, UDEF Text 2). You can customize

your model to include your UDEF labels but then the model is ‘off’ the upgrade track.

Reporting on User Defined Fields (UDEFs)I’ve added PJ UDEF

the appropriate label

for Text #1 is Program

Manager.

Update the data item

label in properties to

name.

Document your ReportsOrganize the items in your query with bogus

data items to designate groupings.

Insert a data item from the tool box with a

descriptive name and make the value a

blank string or zero value.

You can also comment within an data

item or filter expression by preceding

the comment with #/* and ending it with

*/#.

love to hear them!

Document your ReportsAdd a report notes as a page within the report. This page does not need to

be rendered for the end user and can be made visible only to the

developer(s) if desired.

CONFIDENTIAL © Deltek, Inc. All Rights Reserved. 22

Document your Reports• To hide the notes page…Create a Render variable with the following expression:

ParamDisplayValue('RenderNotes') = ‘Y’.

• The page will only display when the value of the parameter is ‘Y’.

• Set the default value of the prompt to ‘N’ and hide it to prevent the user from
