• On June 2nd of this year, Armando Galarraga, the pitcher for the Detroit Tigers, lost his bid for a perfect game with 2 outs in the 9th inning on a bad call by 1st base umpire Jim Joyce.
• Joyce later realized he made a mistake, accepted personal accountability, and apologized to Galarraga.
