Start pilot data exchange (June 2017)

History pilot (3) , the need to share data

MAIN QUESTION:

How can we identify a horse if it’s coming from ‘outside’ without a passport or with a ‘strange’ passport?

Solution:1) Ifce: HUB (2012)2) DH: HorseLink (2017)

Participants:• France (Ifce)• Netherlands (virtual

database Equis users)• Luxembourg

(Government and studbooks)

• Belgium

• Horses are registered by different organizations in different databases (government, sport-federations, studbooks)

• Use UELN: the non-equivocal link between the horse's passport and the original PIO

• Use Microchip number: the link between the horse and its passport (the microchip does not give any detail about identity of the horse)

• Assignment : develop a web based tool for data searches from multiple (international) sources (databases)

Pilot framework

• UELN and/or• Chipnumber

HorseLink (theory):

For searching the horses data use:

HorseLink (theory):

API Organization X (or the HorseLink website) will request the HorseLinkAPI. This will check the connection, authorization and (if valid) will forward the request to the API of the member organizations.

There will be 2 basic calls (sets of information)1. Search (gives the list of search results)2. GetDataFromAnimal (gives more animal information)

The exchange uses an API (Application Programming Interface) secured by Https, all the objects will be sent in JSON format.

HorselinkWebsite

Organization X API (for requesting

data)

HorselinkAPI

Organization A API (for requesting

data)

Organization BAPI (for requesting

data)

Organization C API (for requesting

data)

Request information

• Name organization • UELN • Chip number • Name • Gender (s/m)• Date of birth • Available for consumption

(y/n) • Passport created (y/n)• Date of death (if known)

1st result = Search: (basic data)

• Pedigree (3 generations)

In future the information can be expanded (tailor-made)

2nd Result = GetDataFromAnimal(expanded data)

HorseLink pilot: 2 steps

1. Search data and show them: is a list of results2. Search data and exchange them: is transfer of data
