CUPCAKE

This project is for Flushing Meadows Corona Park in Queens. The aim of this project is to design an exhibition to make the audience get some take away by discovering more about cupcakes and enjoy the experience.

Cupcakes began when bakers discovered that regular sized cake took longer to bake because the outer skin burned before the inside was baked. They discovered that by baking smaller portions, they were able to save time and control heat thoroughly.

concept & inspirationThe structure of this exhibition is adapted from the baking cup because the baking cup has a balanced architectural form when turned up side down.The baking cup acts as a wall for the cupcake.

These cushion seats are placed in the middle of the exhibition. They are in the shape of the cupcake’s ingredients. The audience can sit on or play with them.

Cootie Catcher

This project is for a paper game called “Cootie Catcher.” The aim of this project is to explore the shape of the paper itself and transform it into the exhibition form.

“Cootie Catcher” is known as “Paper Fortune Teller.” But also called by other names, such as “Chatterbox,” “Salt Cellar,” “Whirlybird,” or “Wigwam.”

The process of folding the “Cootie Catcher” is simple, yet it creates a very interesting shape. The reason why the paper fortune teller might work as a form transformation for the trade show is because the object itself can be moved due to its structure.

Levi Strauss & Co.

This project is for Levi Strauss and Company. The aim of this project is to design the 100 feet by 30 feet exhibition that creates impression for buyers who are visiting Magic in Las Vegas.

The inspiration of the “seed idea” of this project came from the “Go Forth” campaign. Since the campaign is mainly about moving forward, “moving motion” is the concept of this project. The exhibition will emphasize this idea through the structures. The structures are implemented through the “arrow” and the “forward sign.”

pre-show compass — leading the direction to the location of the Levi Strauss Exhibition at Magic

The Impression Display was inspired by the logo of Levi Strauss & Co. The graphic of “two horses” is placed in the front of the exhibition. The three dimensional pair of jeans is placed in the middle of the exhibition and is attached to a sling, which enables the pair of jeans to move sideways.

Exits are on both sides.

This project is for Battery Park City in New York City. The aim of this project is to design a wayfinding system to show the location of the 20 art pieces in Battery Park City.

The wayfinding stand will be placed next to all the art pieces in the Battery Park City. There will be 20 wayfind-ing stands all together.

The 20 icons for the 20 art pieces are inspired by the original 20 art pieces themselves. The icons are placed in the map to indicate the location of the 20 art pieces, therefore, the audiences can get the picture of how the original art pieces will look like and will be easier for them to find the 20 art pieces.

The Park is divided into 6 zones on the original map. Therefore, to make it easier for the audiences to find their way to the each art piece, each zones are divided into colors.

This project is for Liberty Science Center (LSC) in New Jersey. The aim of this project is to design amenity wayfinding systems for kids.

There will be three types of wayfinding systems (orientation, identifier, and directional). All the wayfinding systems will continue to use the same color palette as LSC's wayfindng signs to make it consistent with the existing wayfinding signs.

my lightings

This project is for Muji's highlighter pens' trade show. The aim of this project is to design lighting that represents the products themselves not the brand.

There are 5 new colors all together. The 5 color lines are used to represent the highlighter. Both sides of the walls are wallpapers (left and right).The LED strips are installed on the floor, back wall and ceiling. Each color runs in straight lines to represent each color. On each line there will be a display stool with the pens in each color to the corresponding color. With the help of the LED stripes, the lines will glow like a highlighter. The lights are run from the floor to the wall and to the ceiling.
