Objectives of the LessonAt the end of the Lesson, At least 75% of the students must be able to;a. Identify the different components and

exercises of PPFTb. Perform the exercises of PPFT.c. Appreciate ways of taking good care of

one’s body

What is Physical Fitness?It is the functional capacity of the body that

allows for an improved quality of life. It is the body working at peak efficiency.

It is the body’s ability to do work with alertness and vigor.

What are the 2 groups of components of Physical Fitness?1. Health-related- has a direct

relationship to good health and reduces the risk of hypokinetic diseases

2. Skill-related- sometimes called as motor fitness or sports fitness because they are used directly in specific sport or exercise

Health-related Components1. Body Composition- refers to the relative percentage of muscles, fats, bones and other tissues that comprise the body.

2. Cardiovascular Endurance- Ability of the heart, lungs, blood, blood vessels and respiratory system to supply fuel and oxygen to the muscles.

3. Muscular Endurance- Ability of the muscles to repeatedly or continuously exert force.

4. Flexibility- Range of motion available in a joint. It is affected by muscle length, joint structure, and other factors.

5. Muscular Strength- Ability of the muscles to exert an external force such as lifting or controlling one’s own body weight.

Skill-Related Components1. Agility- Ability to rapidly and accurately change the direction of the movement of the entire body in space.

2. Balance- Ability to maintain state of equilibrium while stationary or while moving

3. Coordination- Ability to use senses with the body parts to perform motor tasks smoothly and accurately.

4. Power- Ability to transfer energy into force at a fast rate. It is the combination of muscular strength and speed.

5. Speed- Ability to perform a movement at a short period of time

6. Reaction Time- Refers to the time that elapses between stimulation and the beginning of reaction to the stimulation
