Archery 101
Learn about the fun sport of archery. You will
learn the different parts of the bow and
techniques on how to shoot in this hands-on
class.
Backyard Chickens
An introduction for anyone who’s interested in
raising backyard hens! The basics will be
covered such as types of feed, space
requirements, living conditions, care and health,
and cost. Other topics include housing and
fencing, types of chickens, all about eggs,
maintenance, common practices and more!
Beekeeping 101
Would you like to raise honeybees in your
backyard? Our expert instructor will talk about
how to get started raising bees, the clothing and
equipment needed, building a hive, collecting
honey, and common bee diseases. After this
"taste" of honey making, you can decide if
you're ready to enter the world of beekeeping!
Canning with Kathy
Learn the basics of the waterbath method and
pressure canning method of food preservation.
We will discuss food safety, equipment, proper
processing methods and demonstrate a simple
canning project.
Deer Hunting 101
If you’ve ever had an interest in deer hunting
and wanted more information on the subject,
this is the class for you. Participants will learn
the basics of deer hunting and more with Gerry
Lemire and staff!!
Dream Catchers
Learn about Native American Culture while
making a Dreamcatcher with Narragansett artist
and educator, Lorén Spears, Director of
Tomaquag Museum. She will connect you to the
Native uses of the environment while gathering
materials for making your Dreamcatcher. She
will share the history and legend of the
Dreamcatcher, while teaching participants the
weaving technique. A short walk in the woods
to gather some natural materials will be
included.
Dutch Oven Cooking
Food always tastes better when it’s cooked
outside. Don’t go hungry in the outdoors! This
session covers methods, equipment and recipes.
Bring your appetite!
Falconry
Learn about the 5000 year old sport of falconry.
In this class you will learn about trapping the
birds, housing, equipment, training, and exams.
All things required to be a falconer.
Fly Tying & Fly Casting
Have fun developing a new skill while working
with a variety of mediums (hair, feathers, etc.)
to create your own flies that attract a great
variety of fish. Get pointers as you practice fly
casting in our pond!
Fur Handling for Beginners
Learn the basics of fur processing and
marketing your furs from our expert. Learn from
the catch to finished product!
Geocaching 101
Geocaching is a hi-tech treasure hunt that
challenges participants to find hidden treasures
using a GPS, and has become the fastest
growing sport in the world. This class will
explain geocaching, how the game is played and
go on a hunt or two.
Rachyl’s Goat Milk Soap & Lil’ Soy Candles
Workshop
Learn the art of hand crafted hot method soap
making and soy candle making. Learn how to
handle lye safely, how to cut, cure and store
your soap plus more! Students will also learn
hand poured soy candles and the benefits of soy
wax. All students will take home a bar of soap
and a candle! *Additional $5 materials fee
Natural Beauty and Home Products
In this time of fast pace and families, it is time
to take time for yourself. In this class, you will
learn how to use items that nature provides and
adding items from your kitchen to make beauty
products and air fresheners for pennies. Some of
the items that will be covered are lotions, body
scrubs, lip balms, bath salts and air fresheners.
If there is time, a few more surprises will be
added. You will be taking home what is made
along with the recipes!
Orienteering/Map and Compass
This course is a fun and challenging outdoor
activity in which participants navigate their way
on foot, using only map and compass along
trails. Learn about different types of maps and
have fun while hiking through the woods using
your new knowledge.
Pistols/.22 Rifles (Sunday Class Only)
Participants will learn gun safety, proper
handling of .22 rifles and pistols, shooting
positions, and basic shooting techniques.
*Additional $5 class fee
Shotgunning-Clay shooting for all levels
(Sunday class only)
Whether you are just learning to shoot or want
to sharpen your shooting skills-In this class, you
will be familiarized with different types of
shotguns, ammunition, proper gun fit, and
safety. Participants will have an opportunity to
shoot clay targets on the range.

Trapping/ Furbearers
Learn the basics of trapping. Whether it is to
address human wildlife conflict issues or to take
furbearers during the statewide trapping season.
This class will include identification, humane
trapping standards and devices and equipment
placement.
Tree stand Setup & Safety
Learn how to properly set up your treestand,
whether for hunting, photography or nature
watching. Students will climb treestands with
harnesses and learn how to avoid accidents.
Learn how to be attached from the time you
leave the ground until you return. Proper
footwear required!
DIY Taxidermy Projects-
Learn from a professional, tips and tools on how
to create beautiful taxidermy projects from
home. You will watch a step by step
demonstration on how to create your own
taxidermy and more!
Walk in the Woods
Learn about Rhode Island’s beautiful forest
ecosystem with a RI DEM service forester while
walking through the woods. Participants will
learn about tree, plant, and animal identification
while getting fresh air!
Wilderness Cooking
What would you do if you were lost and needed
to cook something you caught? You have no
fire, no pot, and the water looks dirty…Whether
you are backpacking or in a survival situation,
having a knowledge of wilderness cooking
techniques is important. This class covers
different methods and recipes- everything you
will need to “survive” off the food you might
forage or catch.

agenda and directions to Wallum Lake Rod and Gun Club one week before the event.

White Elephant Raffle: Bring in new, used or unwanted outdoor-themed items to donate for our annual white elephant raffle. Donate an item or two and receive a special raffle ticket for each item .We will also have various raffles, games and a silent auction. Cash, check and credit cards are all accepted.
