Emotionally HealthySpirituality

Though an army beseige me,

my heart will not fail.

though war break out against me,

even then I will be confident

One thing I ask of the Lord,

this only do I seek

that I may dwell in the house of the Lord

all the days of my life,

to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord

and to seek Him in His temple. © Pete and Geri Scazzero 2012

I. The Great Challenge Before Us

I. The Great Challenge Before Us

1. Church almost indistinguishable from the world

2. People in our churches not experiencing deep transformation.

3. The “emotional intelligence” of our people inside church is not any different from those outside.

4. The marriage institution is deteriorating in North America and beyond.

5. Most people (even leaders) not deeply in Scripture and prayer.

6. Church not effectively transforming society/culture.

7. Church leadership remains violent leader’s soul and family

8. Social media and new technologies are profoundly changing our capacity for deep personal relationship with Jesus and other people. © Pete and Geri Scazzero 2012

As Goes the Leader’s Marriage, So Goes the Church

“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and the two will become one flesh.” This is a profound mystery –but I am talking about Christ and the church.

#3. Contemplative Spirituality

He (Jesus) came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord's feet listening to what he said.

But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, "Lord, don't you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!"

"Martha, Martha," the Lord answered, "you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.“
