Words Of Institution

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever and forever.

Amen.

Sanctuary

Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary, pure and holy, tried and true;

With thanksgiving I’ll be a living sanctuary

for You.

It is You Lord, Who came to save me; the heart and soul of everyone.

It is You Lord, Who knows my weakness, Who gives me strength by Your own

hand.

Lead me on, Lord, from temptation, purify me from

within.

Fill my heart with Your Holy Spirit, take away all my

sin.

One Bread, One Body--John Foley, SJ, ©1978, GIA

One bread, one body, one Lord of all,

one cup of blessing which we bless.

And we, though many, throughout the earth,

We are one body in this one Lord.

Gentile or Jew,

servant or free,

woman or man

no more.

One bread, one body, one Lord of all,

one cup of blessing which we bless.

And we, though many, throughout the earth,

We are one body in this one Lord.

Many the gifts,Many the

works,one in the Lord

of all.

One bread, one body, one Lord of all,

one cup of blessing which we bless.

And we, though many, throughout the earth,

We are one body in this one Lord.

Grain for the fields, scattered and grown,

gathered to one for all.

One bread, one body, one Lord of all,

one cup of blessing which we bless.

And we, though many, throughout the earth,

We are one body in this one Lord.

GOSPEL Luke 20:27-38 (p. 79NT)

The Sadducees, who do not believe in the resurrection of the dead, try to trap Jesus. They ask him about the marital status of a resurrected woman who had been married to a succession of seven brothers.

The real issue, says Jesus, is not “Whose wife is she?” but rather “What is your relationship with God?”

SERMON HYMN

“Love Divine, All Loves Excelling” # 631 (ELW)

Love divine, all loves excelling,Joy of heav'n, to earth come down!Fix in us thy humble dwelling, all thy faithful mercies crown.Jesus, thou art all compassion, pure, unbounded love thou art;visit us with thy salvation, enter ev'ry trembling heart.

Breathe, oh, breath thy loving Spiritinto ev'ry troubled breast;let us all in thee inherit;let us find thy promised rest.Take away the love of sinning;Alpha and Omega be;end of faith, as its beginning, set our hearts at liberty.

Come, Almighty, to deliver;let us all thy life receive;suddenly return, and never, nevermore thy temples leave.Thee we would be always blessing, serve thee as thy hosts above, pray, and praise thee without ceasing, glory in thy perfect love.

Finish then thy new creation, pure and spotless let us be;let us see thy great salvationperfectly restored in thee!Changed from glory into glory, till in heav'n we take our place, till we cast our crowns before thee, lost in wonder, love, and praise.

Affirmation of Faith

On the third dayhe rose again;

he ascended into heaven,he is seated

at the right handof the Father,

and he will come to judge the living

and the dead.

and the life everlasting. Amen.
