This guide will show you how to disassemble the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet, assisting in making the repair of the device both simple and inexpensive. Following the steps we have provided should help you quickly, and safely, replace not only a broken display, but also any other internal components that may have become damaged.

• To begin the disassemble of the Kindle Fire, insert the plastic opening tool in the seam between the back cover and the body of the device. With the plastic opening tool in the seam, work around theperimeter of the back cover to separate the clipsthat secure the cover in place. When all the clipsare released, the back cover will detach from thebody of the unit.

• The battery is next to be removed. Using thespudger, pry up on the securing adhesive holding itto the frame.

• With the battery free from its securing adhesive,disconnect its connection to the motherboard byprying it back with the spudger.

• Remove the battery from the Kindle’s frame.

Step 4 – Speaker Assembly

• Next to be removed is the speaker assembly.Locate and remove the two small Phillips screws(#00) that secure it into the case with theappropriate screwdriver, and then free theassembly from its location.

• With the speaker assembly out of its location, theconnection to the motherboard can be removed byprying back on its connection with the spudger.

• The large bar coded connector is the touch screencontroller. Locate and remove the two Phillipsscrews (#00) that secure this connection to the unit.

• Remove the speaker assembly from the AmazonKindle Fire.

• The touch screen connection is the small lockingsocket next to the bar coded piece. Flip the lock torelease the ribbon cable and remove it from thesocket.

• The LCD connector is next. Using the spudgeragain, gently pry up on the connection to remove itfrom the motherboard.

• The next connection is the power button ribboncable. The button is secured in a locking socket.Use the spudger to unlock, release, and finallyremove the connection.

• The antenna connector is the last connection on themotherboard to be removed. Use the spudger to pry itoff its plug on the board.

• The motherboard is secured into the board of theKindle by six Phillips screws (#00). Use theappropriate screwdriver to remove and free themotherboard from its location.

• With the connections removed and the screws outof the motherboard, gently pull the motherboardout of its location to remove it from the AmazonKindle Fire.

• A single Phillips screw (#00) holds the power buttonsecurely in the Kindle. Use the small Phillipsscrewdriver to remove the screw. This will cause thebutton to be released and ready for removal.

• Remove the power button from the Amazon KindleFire.

• The antenna is at the bottom of the Kindle. Pry it up with the spudger to release this piece from its location.

• To remove the frame from this unit, locate andremove the five Phillips screws (#00) that secure itin place with the small Phillips screwdriver.

• Remove the antenna from the Amazon Kindle Fire.

• A couple of plastic clips on each side of the frameare still securing it to the body of the Kindle. Usethe plastic opening tool or spudger to pry theseclips up to release the frame.

• The LCD is secured to the display assemblywith four Phillips screws (#00) that can beremoved with the appropriate screwdriver.Remove these screws.

• The LCD is free from the display assembly once the screws are removed. Now you can peel the LCD back from the touch screen and remove it from the Kindle.

• Remove the metal frame from the Amazon KindleFire.

• The touch screen is secured to the Kindle frame byadhesive. To assist in releasing the touch screenfrom the adhesive, use the heat gun/blow dryer tosoften the adhesive making it more pliable.

• With heat applied to the perimeter of the touchscreen, use a little force to push the touch screenout of the plastic frame. If necessary, also use theassistance of the spudger to help with some of theadhesive.

• Continue working the touch screen away from theplastic frame. Eventually the two pieces will beseparated and allow room for the replacement part.
