DEFINITION OF LUPUS

PREVALENCE

•System(s) affected: Hemic/Lymphatic/Immunologic, Nervous, Renal/Urologic, Endocrine/Metabolic, Skin/Exocrine, Gastrointestinal, Musculoskeletal• Genetics: Markers: HLA-B8; HLA-DR2; HLA-DR3•Predominant age: All ages, but 30-50 are most common•Predominant sex: Female > Male (10:1)

WHAT IS CAUSES LUPUS?

Cause is unknown.Posible factors :

ENVIRONMENTAL TRIGGERS

WHAT HAPPENS?

• Loss of self-non-self recognition• Diversification of antigen-driven responses• Hyperactivity of T & B Cells– Formation of immune complexes– Type III hypersensitivity reaction

PATHOGENESIS

TIPE III HYPERSENSITIVITY

1. Heaping Antibody in tissue2. Immune complex reaction3. Activating complement

reaction4. Necrosis
