Technical Rider for the PASSION SYMPHONY
As of: May 11, 2005
Video projectionThis project is projected component NTSC 16:9 format
1 Video projector of 14,000 lumens w/ cable
1 Back-up video projector of 10,000 lumens w/ cable
1 Projection screen of 16:9 ratio (to be as wide as proscenium height
allows; with a minimum width of 28 feet hung over back line of choir or behind if possible.)
Video equipment
3 (8") Preview/Program monitors (if video station is behind stage, or with no direct view of
screen, a fourth 8" monitor will be needed)
1 NTSC Component Video mixer (2 to 4 inputs; only need manual A/B dissolve; Panasonic MX-
70 Preferred) This mixer will need to be interfaced with the 3 DVD players.
1 Video distribution amplifier as necessary.
Video cabling as required.
3 DVD Players (provided by CAMI)
Sound equipment
19 Microphones (four vocal, ten instrumental, one p.a. mic) with stands
(production should be prepared to mic choir with at least four mics if necessary) Microphoneselection should be as non-obstructive as possible, ie: podium mics. 3 to 4 wireless mics may
be needed for upstage vocalists (included in 19 mic count)
5 Hot Spot Monitors TBD (one on floor for conductor, others for soloists -
to be determined based on final soloist placement)
7 sets of Headsets should be provided starting with the first rehearsal (for technical crew)
Sound mixing console and operator*
Set design
3 or 4 tiers of risers (starting at 4" height) for 86 person choir
2 tiers of low risers for back of orchestra
Music stands w/ lights for orchestra (essential) and choir (space allowing)
Lighting equipment
10 specials from above (not including specials for composer)*

Lights for general wash - blue, red, amber - on choir from high angle/side
(must be discreet from general orchestra and choir stage lighting)
Lights for general wash - blue, red, green, amber - on orchestra
8 floor can lights for a mix of blue, red, green, amber wall washes

*general notes: A Score Reader to cue call/page turn will be provided by the orchestra or localproduction and needs to attend all scheduled rehearsals. This person will be given a marked score by the
Passion Symphony technical director. All of the above are minimum requirements. Number of mics and
specials may vary depending on composition of orchestra. General amplification of orchestra and choir are
hall and size specific. The conductor's monitor mix is to contain all soloists, instrumental and vocal, as well
as choir. Downstage vocalist wedge to contain voice and general mix. All mics and sound monitors are
to be in place and ready for first rehearsal. Headset communication for 7 persons necessary and
should be determined prior to first rehearsal. Additional lighting, i.e. gobos, beneficial but not required.
List of specific mic placements and specials to correspond to specific orchestra layout - TBA.
