Parts of flower

SEPALS

It is formed of several small

and green structures.

It is the outermost whorl of the flower.

PETALS

Petals are brightly coloured to

attract insects for pollination.

androecium

Androecium is the male part of

the flower.

It consists of numerous male

reproductive structure,called stamens.

GYNOECIUM

Gynoecium is the female

part of the flower.

It is composed of one or

more female reproductive structures,called carpel.

Carpels has three distinct parts,namely stigma,

style and ovary.

Stigma : knob like terminal part upon which pollen

get deposited during pollination.

Style : long and tubular part that connects the

stigma with the ovary.

Ovary : fertile part of the carpel , it contains ovuls
